Teaching Girls about Puberty & the Menstrual Cycle
Join us for a Menstrual Medicine session exploring ways we can teach girls about this important life phase.
In this session, Nikki will guide us through how we can support & teach girls about puberty, menarche and beyond - including topics to cover and tools/props you can use. She will begin the session exploring how our own menstrual shame can affect why we teach - this is a very important piece of this work because we can, unintentionally, project and pass on our own shame to those we speak to.
What is covered;
-Identifying and dismantling your own menstrual shame
-Do you embody what we want to teach? If not, how you can begin to do this.
-Menarche as a rite of passage
-Why menstrual cycle education is important/the bigger picture
-Key topics to cover when teaching girls
-How we can prepare ourselves for questions ‘outside of menstrual cycle education’ from children/young adults that we speak to.
-Tools and props you may want to use
