What a wonderful Friday out for David from Walton House Care Home! ☀️🌿

With the sun shining and spirits high, we headed off to Lochore Meadows for some fresh air, beautiful views and a peaceful moment by the water. The highlight? A graceful swan who decided to join us for a while –it's the simple joys that make days like this so special. 🦢

To make the trip even more memorable, Kevin – our talented singing bus team member – treated us to a few songs along the way. Music, nature and great company… the perfect combination for enriching lives and strengthening the sense of community we share both inside and beyond our home. 🎶💚

These moments matter. They remind us that adventure and enjoyment don’t stop at any age.

💚 Holmes Care Group Charity of the Year – Voting is Now Open! 💚

At Holmes Care Group, enriching lives goes beyond the walls of our homes. It’s about community connections, shared purpose and supporting causes that truly matter to our residents, families and colleagues.

We’re delighted to announce that voting is now underway for our first ever Charity of the Year 🎉

Residents, staff, families and friends are all invited to take part and once all the votes are in from all of our homes we'll announce the winner at the start of March.

👉When you’re visiting one of our homes this week, simply ask for a sticker and place your vote – every voice matters! 🗳️

🌟 Our 4 fabulous finalists are:

❤️ Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland – Supporting people across Scotland with chest, heart and stroke conditions to live life to the full.

🌼 Marie Curie – Providing expert care and support for people living with terminal illness and their families.

💜 Alzheimer Scotland – Working to make sure nobody faces dementia alone.

💛 Age Scotland – Inspiring and supporting older people to make the most of later life.

We’ve chosen to introduce a Charity of the Year because we know how powerful it is when our whole community comes together behind one shared cause. With plenty of information about each charity it's also given an opportunity for everyone to reflect on what charities and services mean the most to them.

Over the year ahead, our homes will take part in a group fundraiser, awareness events and meaningful engagements that connect residents with the wider world – truly living our belief in community through connection.

A big THANK YOU to Bankview Care Home in Banknock for sharing their photos of voting well and truly underway.

✨ Want to be part of something special? Pop into your local Holmes Care home, cast your vote and join us in making a difference.

🏠At Walton House Care Home in Leven we always remember that sometimes the most meaningful moments happen one-to-one 💛

Anne enjoyed a special 1:1 afternoon out to the lovely Bridge Cafe in Glenrothes, where she had a delicious strawberry cheesecake and a latte ☕🍰. Afterwards, we popped into a few local shops — with the entire afternoon shaped around the things Anne wanted to do.

Just some simple pleasures but when Anne told us she’d had a “really wonderful time” we know that’s exactly why personalised one-to-one time matters.

Research consistently shows that individualised activities in care homes can significantly improve emotional wellbeing, reduce feelings of isolation, and support a stronger sense of identity and independence. While group activities are full of fun and laughter, 1:1 moments allow residents to feel truly heard, valued and understood.

At Holmes Care Group, enriching lives means recognising that every person is unique, and sometimes the greatest joy comes from a coffee, a cake, and a conversation in the community 💬✨

❤️ Love is in the air at Larkfield View in Greenock❤️

In preparation for Valentine’s Day, some of our wonderful residents at Larkfield View were been busy creating beautiful handmade photo frame gifts for their loved ones.

There’s something very special about taking the time to craft a gift with your own hands. From choosing colours and decorations to carefully placing each finishing touch, every frame has been made with love, laughter and fond memories in mind.

At Larkfield View, we love seeing our residents express themselves and stay connected to the people who matter most. This activity allowed us to celebrate relationships, reminisce about treasured times, and continue building meaningful bonds within our home and beyond. Activities like this truly enrich lives, bringing joy not only to those receiving the gift, but to those creating it too.

💗 We hope all those receiving these thoughtful gifts today love them as much as we do and we wish everyone a Happy Valentines Day.

At Methven House we truly know how to celebrate! 🥳

From birthdays and special anniversaries to spontaneous evenings filled with music, laughter and joy – there’s always a reason to bring people together. Because here, celebrations aren’t just events… they’re opportunities to create meaningful moments and strengthen the wonderful community within our home.

Our team love getting involved – whether that’s encouraging a singalong, leading the dancing, decorating the lounge or simply sharing in the smiles. Supporting residents to participate in ways that feel right for them is part of how we continue enriching lives every single day.

We also love opening our doors to the local community and welcoming talented performers into the home. January saw the fantastic Jack High entertain residents and staff alike – and what a hit he was! 🎤✨ Music has such a powerful way of bringing back memories, sparking conversation and creating connection far beyond the moment itself.

At Methven House, it’s not just about care – it’s about joy, belonging and community connections through shared experiences. 💛

🐧 Celebrating National Days the fun way! 🐧

Last month, we marked National Penguin Day at Heatherfield Care Home in West Lothian with a flurry of penguin-themed activity that brought everyone together 💙

From colouring activities and sharing laughs, to something extra special – we adopted a penguin with WWF on behalf of our residents. The adoption pack arrived with a cuddly penguin and fascinating information about how our support helps protect penguins in the wild, sparking plenty of conversation and curiosity 🌍

The highlight for us? We had to name our penguin so, our ladies and gents put their heads together to come up with as many penguin names beginning with P as possible, and there were lots! After a vote, our penguin officially became… Piper 🐧✨

What absolute joy - being able to create such happiness from learning in our home to supporting an amazing charity.
