Life at Finavon Court Care Home is never dull! How could it be when we have such lovely visitors come and see us. Just before Christmas we got a special visit from James Penguin 🐧

✨ What a Wonderful Week at Fernlea House! ✨

The last couple of weeks have been a joyful blur of festive activity at Fernlea House Care Home in Cardenden, as residents and team members embraced the magic of the season together 🎄

We loved getting creative making Christmas cards to share with local businesses who have supported us throughout the year – a small gesture of thanks that meant a great deal 💌

There was plenty of laughter during our dominoes games too… especially when the residents beat the staff! 🎲🤣

Everyone was thoroughly spoiled with pamper sessions from our wonderful hairdresser Liz, helping residents feel relaxed, confident and Christmas-ready 💅✨

We also welcomed Bex from Fitcare, bringing energy, encouragement and smiles as everyone joined in at their own pace, keeping active and moving together 💪😊

One of the most heart-warming moments was a visit from St Ninian’s Primary School, whose beautiful singing filled the home with festive cheer 🎶❤️ A perfect example of the power of community connections.

And it wouldn't be a Fernlea House Christmas without a Panto! So, we had a festive outing to the Alhambra Theatre to see Snow White, complete with singing, laughter and plenty of “He’s behind you!” 🍎🎭

We rounded off the week with a relaxing coffee morning, sharing a cuppa, conversation and smiles ☕

Moments like these reflect what our care is all about. Enriching lives, creating memories and strengthening community connections are always at the heart of what we do ❤️

✨ Festive fun, community connections & plenty of cheer! ✨

Last Wednesday, residents from Walton House Care Home enjoyed a wonderful Christmas party and dinner at The Studio Leven 🎄

From joining in the raffle (with two very happy winners! 🎁) to singing along with the live entertainment, the afternoon was filled with laughter, music and festive spirit in abundance.

Moments like these remind us how important community connections are — getting out, sharing experiences and creating joyful memories together truly helps to enrich lives and strengthen the sense of belonging within our homes ❤️

💪Fitness boost for Finavon Court residents 💟

Residents at Finavon Court Care Home in Glenrothes have received an extraordinary burst of encouragement after celebrity fitness icon Mr Motivator surprised them with a personalised video message praising their dedication to daily exercise.

The home’s Activities Co-ordinator, Lisa Hogan, has been running morning 'Wake Up Shake Up' sessions to support wellbeing, mobility, and social connection for seven months. Looking for new ways to inspire residents, she began incorporating Mr Motivator’s online exercise routines and the impact has been remarkable.

🏠Craigie House Care Home in Crossgates enjoyed a visit from the local nursery last week.

On went the Christmas music and out came the paint brushes as we all tried our hand at painting ornaments for the nursery's own Christmas tree. We had a lot of fun and there was even a little treat for all of the little helpers for their hard work.

Our homes in Crossgates are all about community and thanks to special days like this it certainly is beginning to look, and feel, like Christmas! 🎄🤶

Another heart-warming day in our homes 🎄✨

🎶There’s something very special about a care home filled with the sound of children’s voices and Alexander House Care Home were delighted to welcome the local primary school in Crossgates for a day of carol singing, laughter and festive cheer. To make it even more magical, Santa popped by with gifts for all the children, creating memories that will be treasured on both sides.

These intergenerational moments really capture what community connection is all about - the joy on everyone's faces, smiles, stories, singing and togetherness… this is how lives are enriched every day.

A huge thank you to the Alexander residents, the wonderful children and families who joined them, and to Santa Steven for helping make it such a fun and memorable day 🎅💚

📸On Tuesday this week, Preston House Care Home in Glenrothes, hosted a moving photography and storytelling exhibition entitled “Living and Dying in a Care Home – The Stories We Can Tell.”

Delivered in partnership with Edinburgh Napier University and Marie Curie UK ’s Care Home Programme, the project offers a rare and intimate exploration of daily life in a care home as seen through the eyes of residents, family members, and staff. Through photographs and personal reflections, contributors captured meaningful moments of connection, joy, challenge, and care, inviting visitors to engage with the lived experiences that shape the Preston House community.

The exhibition aims to support open and honest conversations about what it truly means to live and to die in a care home setting, and highlights the profound relationships, memories, and moments that define residents’ everyday lives.

Tracy Sayle, Preston House Service Manager said, “We are incredibly proud to be part of this thoughtful and sensitive project. Our residents, families, and staff have embraced the opportunity to share their stories, and the results are both powerful and deeply moving."
