🎄✨ Elf Day Celebrations ✨🎄

Our care homes and hospitals celebrated Elf Day in style recently, with plenty of festive cheer, creative outfits and fun-filled activities, all while raising vital funds and awareness for people living with dementia.

Launched by the Alzheimer's Society and delivered direct from the North Pole, Elf Day was created to sprinkle some festive cheer on fundraising efforts towards finding a cure for dementia.

A big thank you to everyone who took part and made this day such a success.

🎶 A Wonderful Day for Maurice! 🎶

Yesterday, we had the absolute pleasure of taking our resident Maurice from Magnolia Court Care Home to a lunchtime accordion concert in South Oxhey. Maurice played the accordion for over 20 years and was a proud member of the Watford Accordion Band, so he was bursting with excitement from the moment he woke up on Thursday!

He couldn’t wait to hop on the minibus with our Lead Activities Co-ordinator, Tammie, and head off to see his old bandmates. And what a special reunion it was — Maurice smiled from ear to ear the entire time. 💛

Hearing the accordion music again brought back so many wonderful memories, and he hasn’t stopped talking about them since. We’re sure this magical moment will stay with him for weeks to come. 🎵✨

✨ A truly festive afternoon at Magnolia Court Care Home! ✨

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming a wonderful group of pupils from St Margaret's Hampstead, who visited our home to share a magical handbell ringing concert and to sing a selection of much-loved Christmas carols. Their performance filled our dining room with the enchanting sounds of the season and brought so many smiles to our residents’ faces. 🎄🔔🎶

The children were not only incredibly talented but also beautifully behaved throughout their visit. Their kindness, enthusiasm, and festive spirit created such a joyful atmosphere, and our residents were absolutely delighted to spend time with them.

A heartfelt thank you to the pupils and staff of St Margaret’s for making our day so special. Moments like these truly capture the warmth of the Christmas season. ❤️

RESIDENTS AT MAGNOLIA COURT CARE HOME LEND THEIR EARS TO LIVE KAROKEE

Residents and guests at Magnolia Court Care Home in Hampstead enjoyed a night of grins with a live Ad Hoc Karaoke performance that took place at the home. Led by the Dulcet tones of Tammie our Life Enrichment co-ordinator, The residents from Memory Lane Community performed a selection of ‘Greatest Hits’ that they regularly perform to give themselves great satisfaction.

Music therapy is a clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to achieve individualized therapeutic goals, helping people manage various health conditions and improve their quality of life.

The hospitality team at the home provided a spread of sweet and savoury treats for guests and residents to enjoy during the show. You can see it was an enjoyable affair.

Tammie who took the lead with the Karaoke said “it is always my pleasure to entertain and work with the residents, our residents always look forward to Karaoke the home.”

Senior General Manager, Wayne Hughes said, “Our residents and guests had a wonderful day singing along with the well-known hits. We do our best to provide a wide range of activities and entertainment at Magnolia Court as part of the lifestyle enrichment programme for residents, and this was one was one of our favourites.”

⭐ Threshfield Court Coordinates Christmas Toy Collection 🎄

Kind-hearted relatives, friends and staff from Threshfield Court Care Home in coordinated a collection of new and used toys to give to the Reuse Santa Campaign run by Yorwaste Limited ,who donate pre-loved toys to less fortunate children, in partnership with North Yorkshire Council.

Colleagues, relatives and local community members generously donated their pre-loved toys to support the campaign and it was a real team effort - residents helped organise the toys into age brackets to get them ready to send off to the council.

The home’s Activities Assistant, Millie, and Glenn, Maintenance Assistant, packed up the home’s minibus and drove to the local Yorwaste Management site in Skipton to donate all the lovely toys.

Stacey Nicholson, General Manager at the home, shared: “... Huge thanks from all of us at Threshfield Court to everyone who supported this wonderful project and helped us spread some joy this Christmas.”

What a fantastic initiative. 👏

This afternoon we had the pleasure of welcoming Anita Parobiec, Lead Specialist Diabetic Nurse, to Magnolia Court Care Home for an informative session on diabetes awareness. Anita delivered an excellent presentation on how to recognise the early signs of diabetes and the importance of timely support.

Resident's at Magnolia Court Care home explored their imagination and creatives sides with an Arts and crafts session led by Healthy Generations where we created our own rocking lamps.

Arts and crafts activities offer the perfect chance to relax, express themselves, and enjoy a good chat while getting creative.💬❤️
Creative activities like these are not only fun, but they also help boost wellbeing, keep minds active, and encourage fine motor skills, all while spreading smiles around the home. 😊🧡

🎉 International Men's Day Celebrations 🎉

Residents, patients, colleagues and families came together to celebrate International Men’s Day in style recently.

Throughout the day gentlemen up and down the country enjoyed exciting experiences, including pub visits, games of bowling and pool and plenty of time for sharing stories and advice.

There was also time for more relaxed gentlemen’s club-style activities, giving residents the chance to chat and enjoy some refreshing beers.

Our residents and staff at Magnolia Court Care home were treated to an afternoon of dancing, singing, and plenty of laughter 🎶😊

🐾 Puppy Love at Magnolia Court Care Home! 🐾

We were delighted to welcome Performing Pets, who brought along three absolutely gorgeous puppies! 🐶💖
What better way to brighten the day and put smiles on the faces of our residents and staff than with cuddles and kisses from these adorable pups? They behaved impeccably and showered everyone with love.

❤️ A Truly Special Dance ❤️

Residents at Hafan-Y-Coed Care Home in enjoyed a wonderful Afternoon Tea Dance at Brangwyn Hall recently.

A particularly special moment was captured of resident Dennis, aged 101, showing his brilliant dance moves. When asked what inspired him to get up and dance, he said: “I imagined I was dancing with my wife!”

Such a beautiful moment. ☺️

⭐ Congratulations, Bedewell Grange! ⭐

It’s been a day of celebrations at Bedewell Grange Care Home in , following a recent Care Quality Commission inspection.

The home received an overall rating of ‘Good’, with an ‘Outstanding’ rating in the Caring category, a true testament to the hard work and commitment of all team members.

To mark the occasion, the team welcomed special visitors and enjoyed delicious treats and pastries, all topped off with a homemade cake prepared by Head Chef Andie.

Well done to everyone on this amazing achievement. 👏

🌺 Lest We Forget 🌺

Residents, patients, colleagues and families came together to commemorate Remembrance Day and joined the rest of the nation in holding a two-minute silence at 11am.

As well as marking Remembrance Day by wearing poppies and watching the televised service from the Cenotaph, residents and patients created beautiful themed displays, laid wreaths, attended church services and read war poems to honour the contribution of everyone involved in the World Wars and in subsequent conflicts.

🎉 Happy 106th Birthday, Sheila! 🎉

It was celebrations all round at Alice Grange Care Home in as Sheila marked her 106th birthday in style.

Her day began with a pamper morning, followed by visits from friends, staff and fellow residents. Sheila also received over 106 birthday cards from well-wishers across the country, including one from King Charles and Queen Camilla.

The celebrations ended with a party for friends and family, complete with live music from SuffolkSinger Gina.

Sheila even made the news – and revealed her secret to a long life: “Having lots of boyfriends!” 😄

🎃 Halloween Celebrations 🎃

Residents, patients and colleagues got into the Halloween spirit of things by creating beautiful autumnal displays with painted and carved pumpkins, flowers and wreaths.

Many of our care homes and hospitals hosted fun-filled Halloween events with delicious treats, mocktails, live music entertainment, costume competitions and community celebrations.

It's safe to say that everyone had a spooktacular time. 👻

👻🎃 Bewitching Tricks and Spooky Treats 👻🎃

Springvale Court Care Home, in Wrekenton, , was a den of ghoulish activity as the home’s spooky Halloween Adams Family got into full swing.

Colleagues embraced the spirit of Halloween by dressing up as The Addams Family. Morticia, Gomez, Pugsley, Wednesday, Uncle Fester, Cousin Itt and Lurch all visited Trinity Square in Gateshead town centre to hand out goodie bags for children and adults, and everyone had the opportunity to have their photo taken with the Addams Family.

General Manager, Gemma Rooney, shared: “Our staff love any excuse for fancy dress day! – we’ve all had a brilliant time.”

The team at Springvale Court commented: “It has been such a fun day. It was wonderful to see everyone go to so much effort to get into the Halloween spirit. And seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces’’.
