Ma Sha Allah.

During a delicate surgery to remove a tumor from a young woman’s salivary glands, Dr. Oguz Basut suddenly began to feel unwell. The day before, he had suffered food poisoning, and now his blood pressure was dropping. But with the tumor positioned dangerously close to a vital facial nerve, stopping the operation could have put the patient at serious risk.

Determined to finish, Dr. Basut asked his colleagues to insert an IV into his right foot so he could stabilize while continuing the procedure from a seated position. Within minutes, his blood pressure returned to normal, and the surgery proceeded successfully.

A photo of the scene—Basut calmly operating while hooked to an IV—quickly went viral. Bursa Uludag University’s president, Ahmet Saim Kilavuz, shared the image and praised the surgeon’s commitment and courage in the face of personal discomfort.

Dr. Basut, however, downplayed the praise: “I’m not a hero,” he said. “I believe any professional in my place would have done the same.”

⚠How does sugar destroy your health?

Excess sugar consumption is more than just a dietary habit - it’s a major factor influencing overall health. Here’s how it affects your health:

1️⃣ Obesity & Overweight – Leads to weight gain and increases the risk of metabolic disorders. High sugar intake contributes to excessive calorie consumption, promoting fat accumulation.

2️⃣ Type 2 Diabetes – Excessive sugar consumption leads to insulin resistance and disruptions in carbohydrate metabolism, increasing the risk of type 2 diabetes. Diabetes can cause complications, including microangiopathy (retinopathy, nephropathy, polyneuropathy) and macroangiopathy (atherosclerosis of the brain, heart, kidney, and lower limb arteries).

3️⃣ Cardiovascular Diseases – Raises blood pressure and increases the risk of heart disease and stroke. Excess sugar contributes to higher triglyceride levels.

4️⃣ Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) – Excess fructose is metabolized in the liver, where it turns into fat, increasing the risk of liver disease and metabolic complications.

5️⃣ Cognitive Function – Excess sugar consumption may negatively affect memory and concentration.

6️⃣ Mood Disorders – Causes mood swings, chronic fatigue, and increases the risk of depression.

7️⃣ Tooth Decay – Bacteria in the mouth feed on sugar, producing acids that erode enamel, leading to cavities and tooth damage.

8️⃣ Skin Aging & Inflammation – Sugar accelerates skin aging through the glycation of proteins in the skin (including collagen and elastin) and increases skin inflammation.

9️⃣ Cancer Risk – While sugar itself doesn’t directly cause cancer, excessive consumption contributes to obesity, insulin resistance, and chronic inflammation, which are major risk factors for cancers such as breast, prostate, and pancreatic cancer.

🔟 Gut Microbiome Imbalance – Sugar disrupts gut bacteria, leading to digestive issues, increased inflammation, and weakened immune function.

Excess sugar does more than just add extra calories - it actively disrupts your metabolism, accelerates aging, weakens your organs, and increases the risk of chronic diseases.

❗Cutting back on sugar isn’t just about weight - it's about protecting your brain, heart, liver, and overall well-being.

The vagus nerve serves as a crucial link 🔗 between our brain and body, connecting the central and autonomic nervous systems. Its role in regulating the body's response to stress is pivotal, acting as the "brake pedal" 🛑 for the fight-or-flight response.

A well-functioning vagus nerve can shift our body from a state of heightened stress to relaxation. 🧠🙏

Moreover, the vagus nerve plays a significant role in digestion, influencing stomach acid, digestive enzymes, and food movement through the gastrointestinal tract for efficient digestion and nutrient absorption.

From a functional medicine perspective, enhancing vagus nerve health is essential. Here are some practical tips:

✅ Deep Breathing: Engage in deep, diaphragmatic breathing exercises regularly. This stimulates the vagus nerve and promotes relaxation.
✅ Meditation/Prayer and Mindfulness: Incorporate meditation/Prayer and mindfulness practices into your daily routine. These techniques can activate the vagus nerve and reduce stress.
✅ Cold Exposure: Brief exposure to cold, such as cold showers or ice baths, can activate the vagus nerve and boost its function.
✅ Gargling: Gargling with cold water may stimulate the vagus nerve, as it's connected to the throat muscles.
✅ Probiotics: Maintain a healthy gut with probiotics, as the gut-brain connection is closely linked to vagus nerve health.
✅ Intermittent Fasting: Periodic fasting can support vagus nerve function and overall health.
✅ Herbal Supplements: Certain herbs like licorice root and ginger may help support vagus nerve health.

Remember, a well-functioning vagus nerve can have a positive impact on your overall health, including immune system balance and mood regulation.

- HERE'S HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR NATURALLY SWOLLEN ANKLES AND FEET

Edema, or swelling of the feet and ankles, is an unpleasant phenomenon that a large number of people suffer from. Favored by different factors, they usually appear as a result of an abnormal accumulation of fluid under the skin. To help you remedy it, here are 3 effective natural remedies to adopt today.1- What are the causes of edema?

There are several factors that can promote the development of edema, the main ones being:
• Water retention: favored by a high consumption of salt, and the drop in the level of albumin in the blood,
• Certain diseases such as heart failure, cirrhosis of the liver, and nephrotic syndrome,
• The pregnancy,
• Cardiovascular system disorders: cardiac dysfunction, phlebitis, varicose veins, etc.
• Although it can affect any part of the body, edema most commonly occurs in the feet, ankles, legs, arms and hands.
To help you get rid of it in a natural way, here are 3 effective remedies that will definitely relieve your swollen feet and ankles.

1. A mint foot bath
• 1/2 cup mint leaves
• 4 cups of water In a saucepan, pour the water and add the mint leaves, then bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes. Then remove from the heat and let cool for another 10 minutes. Once this time has elapsed, pour the mint tea into a basin and soak the feet in it for 30 minutes. The stimulating and toning properties of mint will help to activate blood circulation and reduce edema, and its antiseptic action will help to cleanse the feet.

2. A foot bath with tonic water
In a basin, pour tonic water at room temperature, and soak the feet for 30 minutes. For more effectiveness, you can use cold tonic water. Quinine and the bubbles it contains help fight inflammation and reduce edema, while providing a feeling of relief and well-being.

3. Salt water foot bath Known for its effectiveness against tense muscles, Epsom salt is also highly recommended for getting rid of edema. Its high content of magnesium sulfate activates blood circulation and helps evacuate fluid accumulated in the tissues. To benefit from its benefits, fill a basin with enough hot water to cover your ankles, then add half a cup of Epsom salt to it, and soak the feet for 10 to 20 minutes. Repeat this foot bath, 2 to 3 times a week, depending on the severity of your condition.
