There's another SENDsational morning at the Natural History Museum in Tring on Sun 1st February, from 10am - 12 noon. The February theme is Desert.

Designed for children age 5-15 with neurodiverse conditions, including autism and other sensory processing difficulties, these quieter sessions allow children to take part in activities and enjoy the museum with their families and siblings away from the hustle and bustle of the general public.

Drawing & Talking – Supporting Children’s Emotional Wellbeing

In a safe and nurturing space, children are encouraged to draw freely while sharing stories about their pictures at their own pace. This process helps them explore and process emotions they may be holding inside - without pressure or expectation.

How Drawing & Talking can help your child:

🎨 Emotional expression

🧠 Processing difficult experiences

🗣 Building communication skills

🌿 Reducing anxiety and stress

🧩 Understanding worries and conflicts

✨ Encouraging creativity and imagination

If you feel your child could benefit from a calm, supportive space to explore their emotions, Drawing & Talking may be just what they need.

The Hertfordshire SEND Local Area Partnership has developed a new SEND Strategy for 2026–2029, which sets out our shared ambitions to improve outcomes for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This strategy has been shaped by the voices of children, young people, families, and professionals across education, health, and social care.

📣 Now, we want to hear from families again. Come along to one of our online sessions to give your views on the strategy and tell us if you agree with our priorities.

The session will take 90 minutes and includes a short presentation on the strategy, followed by focus group discussions. In order for us to facilitate conversations, we have limited spaces to 30.
