Yesterday we gathered for a heartfelt Remembrance Day service led by our wonderful chaplains Jennifer and Malar. We paused for the 2 minute silence to honour those who gave their lives, listened to readings, prayed & sang hymns together with resident Evelyn playing beautifully on the piano 🎹
After the service we worked together to fill in Remembrance Day trivia sheets, shared memories and watched the festival of remembrance. We continued into the afternoon with a group reminiscence session where residents found comfort in sharing details of their memories, sharing about their family and personal experiences growing up during the wartime. A truly special day of reflection, remembrance and connection ❤️

We’re blessed to have such a diverse range of cultures at Hall Grange both within our team and residents so took the opportunity to celebrate in August with a cultural celebration open afternoon 🎉🌏 The event was packed with entertainment from an African drummer 🪘 traditional dances from various cultures 💃🏻🕺🏻Indian singing 🎤 A sitar player & DJ keeping the tunes flowing throughout 🎶 Many of our team members proudly wore traditional outfits and performed bringing even more colour & vibrance to the event 💖 We also had a Henna tattoo artist, hair braiding and Indian clothing stall to enjoy between performances and a feast of a food & drink spread with dishes from various cultures thanks to our wonderful kitchen team and our amazing Hall Grange team coming together to cook & bring in traditional cultural dishes for everyone to try 🥧🥘🥮 A big thank you to everyone that attended, participated, volunteers Sharon who helped plan & bring the event to life & Fran who assisted at the event. A wonderful reminder of how lucky we are to be part of such a rich cultural family at Hall Grange ❤️

During the month of October we celebrated Black History Month through culture, history & creativity 🌏 We made African tribal inspired masks bringing colour & heritage to life through art 🎨 had a quiz & black history month talk sharing quotes, poems and learning about inspirational figures who shaped generations & continue to inspire ✨ tasted Jamaican cakes during a sensory session 🧁 and our wonderful volunteer Kate read ‘Hope in a Ballet Shoe’ during book club - the inspiring true story of Michaela DePrince, a war orphan from Sierra Leone who overcame adversity & became a world renowned ballerina 🩰📖 We celebrated culture within many of our activities through the power of music playing & singing along to songs across the decades in styles that celebrate black artistry 🎶 ❤️

A group of volunteers who spend their time at a Croydon home arranged a coffee morning to raise funds and managed to accumulate more than £450

A huge thank you to our incredible volunteers for arranging a wonderful open coffee morning on Saturday and to everyone that joined us with various stalls to shop, delicious home baked cakes to enjoy with tea & coffee and raffles & tombolas to help raise for the residents amenities fund 💛🍰☕️🛍️🎟️

We celebrated National Apple Day on Tuesday with creative apple printing fun! An afternoon full of singing, laughter and creativity which didn’t just stop at Apple printing - residents had a good laugh turning our faces into the canvas with a bit of face painting 🍎🎨🎶
