With the excitement of the holidays, combined with travel, visitors, schedule changes and a greater focus on material things, kids can sometimes find themselves overwhelmed and out of sorts.

Parents can encourage their children to enjoy some quiet focused time such as reading a book, practicing meditation or doing some yoga.  Yoga has a special way of bringing our focus to our bodies and breath without necessarily trying.  When this happens, even for a moment, calmness replaces our thinking minds and our stress 🧘‍♀️❤️

Bow pose or is an excelente pose to do with kids. My little one loves practising it, he thinks is called boat pose and as he is obsessed with boats this is one of his favourite ones 😂.
When practicing with kids you can pretend to be a Fish, Whale, Basket, Sleigh, Angelfish, Nest or Bow.
Some of its benefits include:
* Strengthens the back, shoulders, chest, and legs
* Enhances flexibility, and
* Regulates the digestive system.

I have been suggesting to my kids to do short mindful breathing exercises after any intense activity that we do. these exercises are great for kids to learn to calm down and relax.
On this particular occasion my little one was not very keen do to it, he found it very difficult to cross his legs like her sister and just sat there and sulk, her sister was super keen to do it, so she took a moment to talk to him and explain him that she needed a few minutes, miraculously he understood and let her do it.
It is widely accepted that breathing exercises are one of the most effective ways to help both kids and adults calm down. Breathing is frequently used in health settings to reduce stress and anxiety. But telling your child to “take a deep breath” in the midst of a meltdown is unlikely to calm him down because most children don’t know “how to take a deep breath.” Teaching kids to use visual breathing exercises can help them learn to use breath effectively.
We have been learning about belly breathing which has been proven to be highly effective as a calm down strategy.
To practice this ask your child to sit comfortably or lie on his back.
*Ask him to close his eyes and breathe normally while paying attention to all the parts of his body that move when he breathes.
*Ask him to place one hand on his upper chest and the other on his stomach.
*Tell your child to inhale through the nose and into his abdomen. The hand on his stomach should move upwards and the one on his chest should remain still.
*Tell him to inhale for a count of four, then hold it in for a count of four.
*Ask your child to exhale. Tell him to push out the air from his stomach. The hand placed on his stomach will move downwards.
*Repeat the exercise for five to 10 minutes or until your child feels relaxed.

If you love Yoga, why not practice your poses on a SUP board or body board if you are a small kid :-) while floating calmly on the water? Wonderful right?

There’s something truly special about practicing yoga being surrounded by beautiful nature! It feels completely different than being indoors! It feels powerful and reenergising.
Our senses get awakened, our ears pick up birds chirping within the surrounding and our body feels the warm breeze blowing around us, our skins absorb the warmth directly obtained from natural heat waves and we become more present in our lives with little distractions.
For me, it’s a more profound experience that allow us to establish a deeper connection with earth and with ourselves. It’s a perfect mindfulness activity to do with the kids.
Nothing can beat while watching the blue sky.

Beach + Nature Art + Yoga + Amazing Sunset = Happy Kids.
Beaches are the perfect place to play, to exercise, to relax and to spark kids imagination.
In our last visit to the beach after practising our daily yoga routine we decided to create a heart using the different elements that were around.
Who needs toys when you have stones, shells, feathers, wood pieces and sand?
My kids felt they were on a mission when trying to create something out of nature. Little activities like this make kids feel free, creative, empowered.

“We haven’t done any yoga today” said she, while improvising some quick poses in the forest during our morning walk. Of course the little super man had to follow her!

We had great fun in our first lesson with our special guest Princess Sienna who loved the acroyoga part of the lesson with her mom! My little one got a bit distracted looking at his own shadow and the butterflies on his mat 😂

She has been trying to do the for the last three months. Today she said... Mama!!!!! Look at me, I can do it now!
I’ve been observing her, I’ve seen her trying her balance, falling and trying again, she was determined to do it and today, finally, all the effort she put into it, has paid off.
