Lots of parakeets eat from our feeder every day. This one in the photos is special. We call it Clawed one of two because it has only one functioning claw. Despite this disability, Clawed one of two is assertive and fights its corner for food. it is an inspiration to both of us!

Why we love alpines and succulents?

Many alpines have jewel-like flowers, some are aromatically scented, and some have compact form. They make dainty additions to walls, rock and gravel gardens, troughs and pans. Alpines are generally easy to grow, thriving in poor, stony or gritty soil. Because alpines come from higher altitudes, they are particularly suited to roof terraces and balconies. Succulents have fascinating form, structure, and texture, making them tactile plants. Outdoor succulents are adapted to a wide range of low and high temperatures, and cope well in the dry hot summers that we are increasingly experiencing. They need little maintenance, and are particularly suitable for raised beds, containers, and crevices. Succulents that need warmer temperatures, and drier conditions, make wonderful additions to the home, in decorative containers.
