A whirlwind weekend in NYC. Time has a funny way of working, a great day spent with .hg meeting all her new friends and the night spent celebrating with some of my oldest friends who I met my first year of college too. Sandwiched by a sprinkling of family.

There are a lot of things no one tells you about being an adult. One of them is how hard it is to have your little birds leave the nest. Not just the emptiness but also confronting what has passed and what lies ahead. Someone leaving to chase their dreams while you are left to make peace with the dreams that maybe passed you by.

When you get to be my age it feels like things worm their way into your heart a little more easily. Sorrow and conflict, they dig deeper than they did before.

But the good news is so do light, goodness, dogs, babies and a reunion with the people you love. ❤️

Sunday Funday at the Carnival in Milton Keynes (and when your luggage matches your coat). I led a masterclass all about the origins of the brand and our product lineup.

Did you know?
-Joonbyrd is the only dedicated body care brand developed by a dermatologist.
-The same dermatological concerns we treat on the face regularly manifest on the skin of the body. And despite the fact that 96% of your skin is below your chin, this area is largely underserved.
-Traditional body care typically stops at the surface, our neuroscientific formulas and fragrances transform not only your skin, but also your emotions.
-Evidence shows skin health affects internal health. Skin damage and skin ageing is linked to inflammation and increased risk of heart disease, diabetes and dementia.

As the days get darker, there’s never been a better time to start a daily body ritual.

Peeling off gel polish or heading straight into your next manicure? 💅🏼

Here’s what your derm wants you to know to keep your nails healthy, especially if you can’t resist back-to-back gel sets:
- Hydrate straight away: Massage a nourishing hand cream or cuticle oil all over nails and skin.
- Strengthen: Use a keratin treatment or strengthening clear coat to help restore thin or weakened nails.
- Take a break: Give your nails at least a week off between manicures to help prevent peeling, splitting or further damage.
- Be gentle: Avoid harsh buffing or scraping, your nail plate is already vulnerable.
- SPF always: Protect your hands from UV exposure during gel curing with sunscreen or UV gloves.

Derm Tip 👩🏻‍⚕️ :
Your nails are part of your skin barrier — repeated trauma (like peeling off polish or constant manicures) can lead to breakage, white spots and even infections. A little TLC between sets will help them grow back stronger, trust the rest!

I’m all for a hack and trying something new, but unfortunately, I’m going to have to myth bust on this one!

I’ve seen this trend, and as much as I would love for it to be true, silicone tape is great for:

-Promotes faster and more effective healing of surgical wounds and cuts by maintaining a hydrated, healing environment.
-Protects scars from external contaminants, friction, and bacteria, lowering the risk of infection.
-Helps decrease redness, swelling, hardness, itching, and discomfort associated with scar tissue.

However, silicone cannot significantly reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and cannot achieve the same results as injectable treatments.

Have you tried this trend? Let me know what you thought in the comments below.

Lately I tear up a lot. I can’t tell if it’s perimenopause or the fact that we are standing on the precipice of a seismic shift in our family. Likely it’s both. You turning 18 means you are officially an adult now, and soon to be leaving the nest.

They say biology is destiny, and I believe it. You have been who you are since the day you were born. Bossy, kind, fiercely intelligent, intensely loyal, wholeheartedly determined and quietly funny. Very funny.

You know those Matchbox cars you rev up and they take off, zooming quickly out of sight? That’s how I’ve always felt about parenting you, it was just my job to wind you up and then sit back and watch you GO. A pint-sized powerhouse who I know will succeed in her mission to change the world.

I hope I’ve imparted at least a few lessons somewhere along the way:
1. Hard work is what will set you apart.
2. Dogs and dumplings are the most perfect creations.
3. Little moments of JOY go a long way.
4. Clutter is the enemy.
5. Sometimes when you let your mind wander, the magic happens.

And you’ve taught me many lessons too:
1. Doing the right thing is easy.
2. Have more faith in myself.
3. Midnight is the best time to talk.
4. Cereal is best eaten in bed.
5. Kindness wins.

Happy 18th birthday Jemma! From one mama bear 🐻 to her cub 🐻, I LOVE you.
I cannot wait to see where your path takes you.

Quick flashback to science class: amino acids are the building blocks of protein!

20 building blocks to be exact:
⭐️⭐️Nine are essential amino acids, meaning they must be obtained through the diet
⭐️⭐️Eleven are non-essential amino acids, meaning the body makes these on its own

Out of the nine essential amino acids, three are especially important to be mindful of to make your skincare(and haircare) work harder for you:
1️⃣Leucine
2️⃣Arginine
3️⃣Lysine

Swipe through to take a deep dive into these mighty building blocks.
