Pregnancy Twinning now supports Mums through pregnancy and the most formative phase of their baby’s life. 1000 DREAMS: Because the first 1000 days define the rest. When a whole new person is about to be born into the world with all the joys and worries that come with children. Yet for some women, like those living in rural Malawi where childbirth is dangerous, there are more worries than anyone should have to face alone. Pregnancy Twinning is a charity scheme run in conjunction with Chasing Zero and Tearfund which gives you the chance to sponsor a woman in Malawi or Sierra Leone via a one-off donation by overcoming the main preventable causes of maternal mortality and help her to have a safe birth. If you're pregnant or have been, know someone who is or perhaps even are the result of a pregnancy, maybe you will help support a woman going through the same experience in Malawi today.

Despite good progress, an expectant mum in Malawi has a 50 times higher risk of dying in pregnancy or childbirth compared to a woman in the UK. Pregnancy Twinning 1000 has been working to improve this since 2011, where ‘Mother Buddies’ support vulnerable expectant mums to give birth safely.

Which is why we face them together.
Pregnancy Twinning works with UK and African mums supporting them through the first 1000 days of motherhood – from the start of their pregnancy right through to their infant’s 2nd birthday.
Helping African mums: Research shows that a baby’s brain is developing and expanding at an exponential rate during this critical 1000 day period.
In some countries in Africa, 40-50% of children are physically and mentally stunted by the time they reach their 5th birthday – due in large part to the effects of their first 1000 days!
We provide vulnerable pregnant women and their families in Malawi and Nigeria with a 'Mother Buddy' who visits them at home to give them support through the first 1000 days with their child. For £10 a month become a 1000 dreams supporter by sponsoring the dreams of a mum-to-be.
Helping UK mums: A child’s mental and later physical health is framed to a large extent in those first 1000 days.
With the launch of our new Counselling Services, we are offering mums access to sessions either face to face or online with our trained counsellors and psychotherapists – with the goal of utilising tools for managing depression, stress and anxiety. We want to see mums enjoying good mental health in the first 1000 days of their motherhood and beyond.
This is our dream – to see 1000 mums in Africa, and 1000 mums in the UK, fully supported during the first 1000 days of motherhood.
