Festive Fun at Amy Woodgate House

It has been a joyful and festive week here at Amy Woodgate House! Our regular nursery visitors came for their weekly visit and brought their usual laughter and energy to the unit. Everyone had a wonderful time around the Christmas tree, and the children were especially delighted by the big inflatable gingerbread man. Their playful spirit created a warm and cheerful atmosphere, spreading smiles to residents and staff. ☺️

Residents also enjoyed a little festive pampering with our hairdresser, Maxine. Many treated themselves to fabulous new hairdos while enjoying mince pies, tea, and a few Christmas treats, a perfect way to get into the seasonal spirit. It truly felt like Christmas had arrived early at the home! πŸŽ‰

We also had a special celebration for our Deputy Manager, who marked his first year at Amy Woodgate House. Staff and residents came together to celebrate, and he was genuinely surprised by the thoughtful gesture, making it a heartwarming moment for everyone involved. β˜ƒοΈ

From festive fun with the children to treats, pampering, and celebrations, it has been a week filled with joy, laughter, and community spirit here at Amy Woodgate House.

We had an amazing cake sale on Wednesday, and it was a wonderful success! Our residents joined us at the table to help sell the cakes, which made the event even more meaningful. πŸŽ‚

Their smiles, conversations, and enthusiasm created a warm and joyful atmosphere throughout the afternoon. It was a lovely community moment that brought everyone together and made our dementia care home feel even more like family.

We loved seeing so many families and children come in to buy treats and chat with us all! πŸ°πŸ’›

A group of children visited this week to join our Baby Boppers by Bella & Boo , and the nursery children also came to bring joy and companionship to our residents.

The children spent time playing, singing, and interacting with residents, creating a warm and uplifting atmosphere throughout the home. They also visited some residents in their rooms, offering smiles and gentle company to those unable to join the activities.

The visits were a heartwarming experience, spreading comfort and happiness across generations. ❀️

Roy joined in November 2023 and has demonstrated incredible dedication, compassion, and a genuine desire to make a difference. 🌺 At Amy Woodgate House , our residents held poppies in their hands for a special photo, symbolising the connection between generations past and present. Each story deserves to be remembered, passing on experiences and values of peace to younger visitors, staff, and community members, ensuring that every legacy endures.

In our dementia care setting, holding a poppy is a poignant way for residents to honour the past, express gratitude, and find peace within a supportive and empathetic community.

It was a truly lovely activity to transform the photos into black and white images with a splash of red to make each poppy stand out, a simple yet powerful reminder of remembrance. ❀️🌺
