🌟 Wardrobe MOT Tips 🌟

We recently did an interim organising session on a client’s wardrobe. Refreshing an existing system we’d set up 18 months before.
✨It functioned and felt so much better after a review!

Here’s how to do this at home..

✅ Go category by category taking out every item in that group (dresses, tops etc) and edit out anything you’re no longer wearing
✅ Make piles for donate, sell, recycle ♻️
✅ Put items back in containers or sections, file fold or hang
✅ Label so you can easily find it 🏷️

It’s that simple! 😅 An MOT once a season prevents build-up and overwhelm when you open your cupboards. Creating a capsule wardrobe you actually love and wear 🙌🏼🌟

Still feel overwhelmed by clutter after Christmas? This is how to reset fast..

- Start in the room bugging you the most
- Put away everything that already has a place
- There’ll be a pile of things that are ‘homeless’
- Either create a home for them with similar items in that category
- Or if you’ve run out of space - edit other items in that category to make space
- Get these out of your house fast - donate, sell or recycle
- Label your categories so other people in your family also know where things go

This reduces the mental load on you! 🤍

🌙✨ Reflecting on 2025..

Highlights ☀️
- Professionally it was our best year yet, we organised more homes than ever before and it was brilliant having Esme join the team
- we had an amazing time working with both presenting at the show and subsequently filming content for their channels
- Sally developed more interior styling projects
- we worked with such wonderful clients, including the lovely

🌻 In our own lives, Sally’s baby girl arrived, we progressed home improvements, there were special birthdays and some beautiful travel experiences 🌅

Challenges 🌨️
But we went through some unexpected difficult times personally, and honestly the constant juggle of running a business and family is hard.

🌷 We’re grateful for the opportunities that came our way this year and the clients who trusted us to transform their homes. We get so much joy from it! ☺️

Looking forward to starting a New Year… We’re aiming for calmer weekends and more balance. ⚖️ 🌿🤞🏼

✨Creating Storage in Awkward Spaces✨

Our son’s bedroom had an old fireplace that limited the layout and looked pretty awful 😝

⚡️We turned it into useful storage by adding two MDF shelves to create a bookcase and toy storage.

⚡️We removed the old surround and added a simpler floating shelf

⚡️A lick of paint and some new tiles to refresh and it was transformed!

We’ve had some new followers recently so wanted to say hello.. 👋🏼😊
We’re Heather & Sally, professional organisers and founders of The Calm Home Company.

✨ We set up 4.5 years ago to help other families calm the chaos in their homes and reduce overwhelm🌪️😅

✨ As busy mums ourselves we understand how quickly clutter can build up! 🙈 But we know the best ways to get on top of it and maintain order in the long run. 🙌🏼
✨ Heather runs the business and is lead organiser on client projects. She is a former actress and loves skiing, Pilates, hosting and labelling everything! 🎿🥂🏷️

✨ Sally is co-organiser and lead stylist. She is brilliant at shelf styling and often creates beautiful moodboards for clients who want help with furnishings. Also a plant scientist and former mixologist. She is a calm ray of sunshine! 🌿🍸☀️

✨ Esme joined the team last year and is an experienced organiser, specialising in the Marie Kondo method. She has her own local business and we love collaborating with her whenever we can! 🗂️💛

✨ As well as organising in client’s homes we are also presenters on The Ideal Home Show channels and you can watch videos of our decluttering & organising tips there 🎬
