People come for treatment who have tried all kinds of therapies, detoxes, this that and the other. The body doesn’t need more, but less. Such as trauma may be complex, healing wants simplicity.

Healing comes down to being held, and our capacity and willingness to receive it. Being held by others is crucial, be that therapy, loved ones, nature, God.

We must integrate what we come to know, and not cease living in the quest to fix ourselves. It is not easy, and the more we can drop into receiving, the more subtleties of transformation take place.

Beyond the association with physical intimacy, sexual energy is life force energy – the vitality, creativity and spiritual potential within the human form. The ancient Chinese concept of Jing, the Indian tradition of Kundalini, and the Taoist philosophy all recognise the transformative potential inherent in sexual energy.

Societal programming has led the unconscious dissipation of sexual energy. It leaks through shame and distorted messages we receive around sexuality, ingrained beliefs, p**n, casual and unfulfilling encounters, wounded relationships with parents, and other “norms”. We have given it away and learnt to use it in unhealthy and manipulative ways, causing our being to be less potent, prompting external dependencies to fill a hole that should naturally be a spring of energy.

Through different practices we can learn to harness this force for physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. Through simply closing our eyes and calling our energy back to our Tan Tien centre, we can become more attuned in how we direct it, and how it can revitalise us rather than deplete us. Cultivating a conscious relationship with our own sexual energy allows for a deeper connection to self and our potential.

The Tan Tien and reproductive area is a primary focus in Chi Nei Tsang. It’s often the case that people experience obstruction, tension, and pain, and, we can receive an influx of energy, visions and messages though the session. Through learning to harness our energy, releasing subconscious blockages and embracing the flow of life force energy, we can experience profound transformation, creative influx, focus, deep connection, inspiration and purpose. The gateway of human potential.

It all starts here.

Birth, nourishment, creation, digestion, protection.

The womb, the bridge between spirit and the tangible, with the tan tien, the most potent energy centre. The abdomen is a reservoir of vital energy and a repository of memories. The engine, the emotional core, the place where we process and digest, and the rubbish dump. Home to the first brain.

The Taoists discovered that the internal organs connect with the forces of the universe, and link between the human microcosm and the universal macrocosm. This in essence, explains how the inner harmony of our human vessel is in direct correlation with outer experience. Where we meet our experience of life with resistance, we obstruct our life energy from flowing.

When I came across Chi Nei Tsang, it all made sense, and as someone who has noticed the tension stored in my stomach through my life, I wanted to gain deeper understanding. Upon training, this work’s healing was clearly coherent on all levels, more so than any other modality I had experienced.

I am consistently at awe with the healing that comes through simply holding the body, the most vulnerable area we store and protect so much. Through simply acknowledging and bringing presence to what has been, and giving it space to move through. The practice works from the heart down to the sexual organs - which through a patriarchal lens we have come to believe is all separate. In fact an intricate system and home to great power.

From being toilet trained as children, we understand that praise and reward comes with controlling our bladder. This then extends to other areas - sexual, emotional, spiritual, vocal - we learn to control, and this leads to dis-ease.

Chi Nei Tsang releases the blocked energy and emotions in the abdomen, allowing new life flow, to experience life as it is now and not in the limits of stagnant energy, we can become connected to the body more deeply. The body has wisdom beyond what our mind can conceive, and our capacity for healing and regeneration is much simpler than we have believed.

Chi Nei Tsang in the tranquility of the Ola clinic.

This healing practice works solely on the abdomen with oils with a deep and gentle touch, using specific healing sounds which relate to certain organs. This allows tender acknowledgement of our stuck emotions and energy, allowing them to move and release, bringing in revitalising new energy.

Around 90% of dis-ease is caused by emotional and energetic blocks, and starts in the abdomen.

As the body systems and energy lines cross paths in this area, this massage addresses all systems: digestive, respiratory, cardiovascular, lymphatic, nervous, endocrine, urinary, reproductive, muscular-skeletal and the acupuncture meridian system.

Available in Totnes and surrounding areas.

“In ancient China, the Taoists taught that a constant inner smile to oneself, insured health, happiness and longevity. Why? Smiling to yourself is like basking in love: you become your own best friend. Living with an inner smile is to live in harmony with yourself.” Master Mantak Chia

The Inner Smile Meditation Practice

1. Begin by closing your eyes and relaxing your whole body. Smooth facial muscles and focus attention on the third eye.

2. Visualising a peaceful scene, bring a smile to your lips.

3. Gather this bliss behind your eyes and watch it internally as it travels down your body. Let the smiling energy flow like a sweet stream down your nose to wash over your lips. Feel a sublime inner smile.

4. Place the tongue behind the teeth to connect the energy circuit for the entire practice.

5. Swallow your saliva and feel your throat open and relax as you smile to your voice box. Thank them for giving you the power of balance and speech.

6. Visualise your thymus like a blossoming flower and smile to it with thanks for strong immunity and healing energy.

7. Let the smile radiate to the happiness centre of your heart. Feel your heart soften and fill with red love nectar. Release cruelty, harshness, hastiness, impatience and hurt from the heart on the exhalation. Thank it for giving you compassion, kindness, joy and good circulation.

8. Gather the loving energy from the heart and spread it to your lungs. Sense every cell relax as it releases grief and depression. You can also visualise them glowing white. Swelling with smiling energy, let your lungs soak up joy, love and courage. Thank them for oxygenating your body.

9. Smile to your liver as it emanates a forest green hue, releasing grey murky light on the exhalation. Release anger and resentment. On the smiling inhalation absorb kindness, forgiveness and acceptance. Thank the liver for its role in assimilation, metabolism and purification.

10. Send pure smiling streams to your stomach, pancreas and spleen. Visualise these organs basking in a golden yellow light as they relax to release worry and anxiety. Feel faith, fairness and present-minded consciousness saturate this region. Thank the organs for maintaining healthy digestion, immunity and blood sugar levels.

11. Keeping your body relaxed, send the loving smile to the kidneys. Visualise them like deep blue ears, releasing fear and stress from them. Smile to them as they fill with soothing security, wisdom and calm. Thank them and the adrenals for filtering blood, balancing water and increasing stress resistance. Strong kidneys also give us the willpower to act on our convictions.

12. Smile to your or****ic sexual area. Fill it with a tender loving energy, appreciating the pleasure and power it gives you. Thank it for producing hormones that nourish the mind and body.

13. To finish smile up your spine, washing the whole body, flowing from each vertebra through the nervous system, bone marrow, bones, muscles, skin and hair.

14. The smile rises to your crown showering your whole body in smiling ecstasy.

15. Allow the energy to flow back down behind your eyes and pool into your naval.

16. To complete the practice spiral energy around your navel. Men place their palms left over right and spiral clockwise 36 times whilst women place their palms right over left and spiral counter clockwise 36 times. Next reverse the direction and spiral back 24 times. By storing the smiling energy in the navel you will avoid accumulating excess heat in the head or heart. You have now completed the inner smile 😊

“The whole of the world of which we live is one mass of magnetic interplays. As long as these are kept honest, they are all compatible. A universe where there was no dishonesty, would be free from every infirmity.” Manly P. Hall

Each human body is surrounded by an energy field, and when we are healthy emotionally, physically and mentally, the field serves to be of tremendous protection.

It comes down to maintaining a flow of energy into the magnetic field, keeping the integrity of the field by living by the laws of nature. When the magnetic field fails, it loses integrity and power.

The field is disrupted by fears, attitudes, complexes, alcohol, narcotics, any action against the common good. When this field is damaged, it immediately effects health and vitality.

The stomach is its own living organism, as well as the heart, the brain, glandular system, organs, intestines, motor system, nervous system and endocrine system. Each has their own field and together constitute the magnetic field around a person. To abuse one is to damage all, and to neglect one is to neglect all.

When we understand everything in this universe as energy, we understand how we shape our reality, as the outer world responds to the inner world. This is law.

A thought is energy, we see this when giving a thought attention and it manifesting in the physical. Thought triggers an emotional response in the body and we respond to that emotion. Much of the time we respond to that emotion in a way that we have learnt - to keep us feeling safe in familiarity, particularly if the emotion is tied to trauma from our past.

Addictions to emotions allow us to stay the same and in cycles of suffering. In telling ourselves we are a certain way, we avoid the response-ability we have in changing. In choosing to respond in healthier ways, we see change not only within, but without.

To live in good health and vitality, we must then look at the whole of the being. To heal is not so much to fix or fight one thing, rather a journey of tending to, acknowledging, and bringing compassion to all aspects of ourselves. In addressing the trapped emotions and energy, they can be released and we begin to experience transformation and new life.

Chi moves through the body’s internal channels, nervous system, blood vessels, and lymph glands. These concentrate in and cross paths in the abdomen.

Tension, stress, worry and negative emotions can accumulate here causing energy blockages, resulting in physical knots and tangles, and that can lead to illness.

The Taoists recognised that negative emotions were behind most physical ailments, and made the link between different organs and emotions. Once the underlying toxin and negative energy were released from the body, then could most diseases be cured.

They developed the art of Chi Nei Tsang to re-cycle and transform the negative energies that obstruct the internal organs, helping to relieve numerous illness’ and diseases. Opening the channels and enabling the flow of chi to re-energise and cleanse the organs, and helping to restore balance and wellbeing.

When our life force energy is in flow, we can embody our potential and power.

Humans began to live in the thinking mind and disconnected from the power and innate wisdom that lies in the lower parts body. This is where we experience balance, vitality and creative expression and most importantly, basic trust. Without these lower parts of the body in balance and good health, we can feel unsafe, have low self-esteem, be overweight, have sexual dysfunctions and feel emotionally unstable.

The eastern and other ancient traditions share the wisdom and importance of energy and the whole body. Chi, the energy that brings life to every living thing, should naturally be in flow. We harness energy in certain energy points. The seven chakras in the vedic tradition for instance, and the Tao tradition with the three tan tien.

It is the body as a whole that requires our presence in order to partake in our experience to its full potential and in full spirit. To be in our body means we can bring things into manifestation with ease and trust, we can express ourselves with integrity, we can allow our inner and outer life to flow without over-intellectualising. Naturally, a balanced body brings a balanced mind and high spirits.

A life of vitality and wellbeing is available and we do not have to look outside of ourselves to attain it.

The art of Chi Nei Tsang was developed to relieve the body of blocked energy and emotions and ultimately dis-ease.

To unblock your energy is to unlock your blueprint.
