Meet Dr Sophie Eleanore Redlin - our new member of our International Advisory Council
Sophie Redlin is a medical doctor, anthropologist, and filmmaker specializing in family practice, mental health, and remote and expedition medicine.
Her clinical practice as a General Practitioner is based in London, where she works between a clinic in Kensington and a service for homeless patients in Soho. As an expedition doctor, she has accompanied research and youth development expeditions worldwide, most recently supporting sailing voyages to Antarctica and the Arctic.
As an anthropologist, she is currently conducting research at University College London on global cross-cultural approaches to mental healthcare, with a focus on North American indigenous perspectives on wellbeing. Her study aims to highlight the impacts of culture and community on health and investigate the potential for respectful application of traditional knowledge to Western medical models. She has an interest in participatory video practices and uses filmmaking as a modality wherever possible.
Sophie applies her research findings directly to her role as a mental health and su***de prevention trainer and designs tailor-made mental health teaching programs for expedition teams and remote workers.
Sophie is a member of the Explorers Club and a fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts, the Royal Geographical Society, and the Churchill Fellowship. She enjoys sharing her work with the general public through speaking engagements; most recently delivering a TEDx talk on the power of storytelling for University College London and a presentation on indigenous mental health for the Royal Geographical Society.
Please join us in welcoming Sophie Eleanore Redlin to our valued members of the HHERF International Advisory Council!
We look forward to working with you Sophie!
