Breath doesn’t only move in the chest.

When we inhale and exhale, that movement spreads through the upper body. It travels through the ribcage, shoulders, arms, and even into the hands. This happens because everything is connected through fascia - the soft tissue network that links one area to another.

That’s why tight shoulders, stiff arms, or tense hands can influence how freely we breathe. And it’s also why working only on the chest or diaphragm doesn’t always change the bigger picture.

When these breath pathways are open, movement feels easier and more coordinated. When they’re restricted, the body often compensates by holding tension somewhere else - usually in the neck, shoulders, or jaw.

In MER – Original Face, we work with these connections in a practical way, helping the upper body organize itself as one system rather than as separate parts.

No identity.

Fascia, nerves, vessels, muscles — all working in silent cooperation.
It reminded me that the body is not something we have.

It’s something we are.
And maybe the real question is...
