Happy Summer Solstice everyone! I grabbed a moment of me-time during my walk around Battersea Park this morning with a stop off in the Old English Garden. Made more special by the fact the water lilies are out in full bloom on the pond!

How are you doing today?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Yesterday was Blue Monday, so if you or anyone you know is feeling down, then be kind, more than ever we all need to support eachother in these strange times.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Have you noticed lockdown has made a difference to your way of eating? Have you developed a habit about how much and when you eat that feels life-controlling? Your feelings and symptoms maybe very different to what you've read or seen about other people's eating disorders. There are so many variants, but importantly if you feel that your current circumstances or difficult feelings/situations have caused a change in how you feel about food and eating has become your coping mechanism, then it's time to talk to someone.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you have difficulty accessing support from family and friends, or perhaps they are the cause of your problems then talk to someone outside of your circle. If you have a serious disorder this can be exacerbated by the lonliness that lockdown brings, the isolation, not being able to go to the gym and stockpiling food.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Learning a few new tools like Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and self hypnosis can help re-direct those negative thoughts at a time when you really need it, to help re-route old behavioural paterns. If this is you then get in touch.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Alternatively you can also contact BEAT (formerly Eating Dosorders Association), a registered charity across the UK.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

GRIEF CONVERSATIONS⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
From 25th-31st October RADIO 2 will be looking at ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Grief & Loss in hope of helping to normalise the conversations around them.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I know from experience that losing someone close to you can be difficult to come to terms with. Sometimes it can be overwhelming and too difficult to talk about or sometimes too soon after the loss. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Everyone’s grief journey is unique so no one knows exactly how you are feeling. It’s ok to feel angry, guilty, sad, numb, lonely or lost in a day but we all need to talk to someone, sooner or later. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We all get to experience grief at some point in our lives and there’s no way of preparing for it but it doesn’t have to stop you living a life.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

September is ‘World Alzheimer’s Month’ and this year the focus is on dementia to raise awareness of how it impacts the daily lives of people affected by the condition and the stigma that surrounds it.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Receiving a dementia diagnosis can leave a person feeling very alone and confused but can also leave family members and primary carers feeling isolated.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My Mum -bless her, lived with Alzheimer’s for the last 10 years of her life and my father was her primary carer but he was a very proud man and didn’t like to ask for help. It was hard for all the family to watch her beautiful character fade into the background as the disease took over.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you have questions about dementia or need help then call the support line to speak with expert dementia advisers;⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Today marks the Autumn Equinox, the day when the sun crosses the plane of the equator which means day and night are roughly equal. We get two per year and today’s equinox means the days are going to start to get shorter.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Do you have a walk or view that’s kept you sane during lockdown? If so get out there, revisit your favourite place in nature, feel how it feels to get those last rays of summer sun. It’s good for the soul.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
