One of the benefits of taking a long road trip, other than admiring a scenic view and listening to a great podcast or playlist, is uninterrupted time with your travel partner to really dig into a discussion. On a recent drive upstate through the breathtaking Catskills, my husband C and I delved into a conversation about the difference between pleasure and joy when he asked how my writing was going....

Dear Friends, The six-month memoir writing course I began in May is coming to a close, and I am feeling apprehensive. While I have a clear view of the end, my memoir is far from complete. I'll need to create for myself the encouragement, community, and accountability the course and its excellent instructors provide. Even though they are preparing us for this transition, I am nervous....

It’s a one hour writing session from 8am-9am EST. 🙌🏼 📓 Great way to stick with your journaling practice, too!

Dear JT Family,

It's been nearly three months since we began journaling together. We've all experienced feelings of uncertainty, disappointment, isolation, loss, and even anger. So much has changed since Covid-19 forced us into shelter and changed the world as we knew it.

And now, as we emerge, we are being awakened by the injustices we've witnessed (that have long since been happening to black people here and across the globe) and the role we individually and collectively played in their creation.

It's as if the world is asking us who we want to be in this new world. I hope our sessions together have given you the tools and the confidence to discover the answer to that question.

"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." Martin Luther King Jr.

We've been pulled emotionally in so many directions over the past few months, and many of have been fortunate enough to experience some of the most beautiful moments through the kind gestures of strangers, neighbors, family and friends. We are truly capable of great things.

This is my last video blog here, but I will continue to share journaling prompts and tips to help you continue this wellness practice. These videos will remain here as a reference. I hope to hear your stories, how you incorporate journaling into your life.

This week we've seen a collective call to action to end racism. Cities across the nation and the world are protesting for long-overdue change. This is a pivotal moment in time and each of us have a role to play in this calling.

Join me as I share a hard truth that can immediately help us begin to make a positive impact.

Hello JT friends,

As a follow up to our last video ( #32), I’m sharing this Checking In podcast (15 minutes), which supports the reality that if we focus our attention on the present moment and our values, we can experience post traumatic growth.

It’s been proven that in the most trying times, we can come out of the trauma storm stronger and more open if we realize that we can choose differently for ourselves. Our values can guide us in a new direction. 🧭 ✔️

I wish you health. I wish you safety. I wish you happiness & human connection. 💫☀️📝

Our values can help shine a guiding light in uncertain times. What values do we hope define us in our roles as daughters/sons, parents, neighbors, friends, citizens, etc.?

Gandhi said it best -

“Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny.”

Join me for an interesting exercise that helps shine a light on our values.

This is video 32 of Journaling Together.

While I've moved to weekly videos, I'm here to support your journaling journey anytime. I'd love to hear how your practice is supporting you. xo

Good morning Journalers, 💫📝

It’s gratitude day. The daily act of jotting down three things we are thankful to experience or have can lift our spirits and improve our outlook. What might you consider writing today?

If you haven’t read it yet, I’m sharing a story I wrote a few months ago about how I came to journal. There are tips and references in the article I hope you find helpful.

I wish you health, I wish you safety, I wish you happiness.
