Choob Toob by Tiny Teas My daughter, Theía, was diagnosed with cancer at 14 weeks old and required a Hickman line to administer her chemotherapy. By Caitlin, founder of Tiny Teas Trust

Life beyond the lines...

Tiny Teas Trust is a non-for-profit which makes, donates and sells Choob Toob; a pediatric medical garment explicitly designed for children who have a central intravenous line. I was fraught and then faced with all the hazards of having a baby with a central line involved; I was desperate for a solution. My aunt made the first prototype ahead of Theía's discharge from the hospital. At the time, my biggest fear was Theía pulling her line or catching it under her clothes when I picked her up. Little did I know that what I had designed would also dramatically lower the risk of a line infection. For five months, Theía wore many variations of Choob Toob, while my aunt and I improved upon what is now the latest design. She did not once have a single line infection in this time or pull her line, and I firmly believe this is all because of Choob Toob. Many people, from our consultant to the nursing team, have commented on how rare it is for a child to be infection-free while having a central line. It is from this; the idea to bring Choob Toob to other children was born.

To every family, child and supporter of our cause, thank you for your belief in Tiny Teas over this past year.

Every like, share and donation, has made an incredible impact on our cause, enabling us to continue making and donating free Choob Toob garments to children living with a CVC.

One of the most difficult things about a baby having a central line is stopping them pulling it and preventing it from getting caught on things. This vest has a handy pocket inside to keep it safe!”

In the last 3 days we have raised over £16,800, all of which enables us to continue our mission to ensure any child with a central line can receive one of our Choob Toob garments for free.

There are no words to do justice to the level appreciation we have for the overwhelmingly positive response the article in the Observer and Guardian has generated.

Caitlin and the Tiny Teas family have received hundreds of messages since Sunday and are working round the clock to reply to them all as quickly as possible, so please don't be disheartened if we haven't replied to you yet - we will!

From a TINY concept to a fully-fledged community interest company...

Over the last 12 months, Tiny Teas has sent out over 150 Choob Toobs, fundraised over £3k to support the cause and instructed a clothing manufacturer to bring our garments nationwide.

We have carved out our brand, built a website, instructed an accountant, filed countless applications, completed 100's of forms, designed flyers, packaging, and labels.

We've worked with families and children all at very different stages in their treatment journeys, we've laughed, we've cried - a lot - and on the eve of having our story featured nationally I can not express the buzz of excitement that is running through me as I write this post.

October has been a tremendous milestone months for Tiny Teas in so many ways and I am so grateful to be on this journey with my incredible support network and board of directors, helping other families to claim back some normality at a time when their lives have been turned upside down as a result of a child's serious diagnosis or illness.

THANK YOU too all who have been instrumental in getting us to this stage and keep your eye's peels for some more exciting announcements coming in the next few days!!!

There are many reasons why a child may require a CVC with these just being a few examples.

However, CVC's come with many risks and this is where Tiny Teas can help! Our Choob Toob garments prevent infection and reduce the risk of accidental removal; as well as giving the wearer back a sense of normality by enabling them to wear 'normal, every-day clothes'.
