MedicShield has donated 1,500 adult 3 ply masks to Burton Albion Community Trust (BACT), the charitable arm of Burton Albion Football Club. The BACT mission is “Making a difference to our communities through the power of sport and brand of Burton Albion FC.”

Since its inception in September 2010 participation has grown together with investment in the local community. On average, BACT engages with more than 7,000 people per week with ages ranging from four years to 80-plus.

Andy Pringle, Director of MedicShield commented “It important in these difficult times that we do our best to help people in the community, if the Pandemic taught us anything it is the importance of helping each other. It’s a small donation but we hope it helps”.

MedicShield has donated 3,000 adult and 3,000 children’s 3 ply masks to KIDS https://www.kids.org.uk/ to assist them with the incredible work they do in aid of disabled children, young people and their families. For over 50 years KIDS have made it their mission to support and empower disabled children and young people to have fun, learn and grow with confidence into adulthood.

Since the coronavirus pandemic began, face masks have become a common site in all sorts of situations. While it has been difficult for most people to adjust to wearing masks, members of the deaf community and those who are hard of hearing have been faced with some specific problems.

Lip reading in masks can be an extremely challenging task, meaning that people living with deafness and hearing loss have been faced with new communication challenges since the arrival of Covid-19.
