Sept 10: World Su***de Prevention Day

In the healthcare sector, the stress, emotional exhaustion, and sometimes even thoughts of su***de can be daunting challenges. Remember, we're all part of a community committed to each other’s well-being.

Here at Canny Health Group, we're not just focused on physical health; your mental and emotional health matters too.
Given the alarming fact from the World Health Organisation that over 700,000 people die by su***de each year, it’s crucial for healthcare professionals to be aware and take action. This makes our participation in the World Su***de Prevention Day on September 10th, under the theme "Creating Hope Through Action," even more vital.

Here’s how you can get involved:
- Offer a listening ear to a colleague who seems to be struggling.
- Share your own story to inspire resilience and courage.
- Educate yourself and others on the warning signs of su***de and resources available for help.
- Attend events, both online and offline, focused on mental health and su***de prevention.
- Show solidarity by wearing a ribbon or lighting a candle on September 10th.

If you are having a difficult time, please call 116 123 or visit https://www.samaritans.org/ .

Raising Awareness for Depression

In our world, depression affects millions, yet there remains a lack of understanding and empathy. By raising awareness, we can offer vital support and challenge the stigma surrounding this mental health issue.

Depression isn't merely feeling sad – it's a complex condition impacting thoughts, emotions, and daily life. Recognising its signs can make a significant difference.

Why Awareness Matters:
Breaking the silence around depression reduces stigma and encourages seeking help. Empathy and education pave the way for a more supportive community.

How You Can Help:
* Learn: Educate yourself about depression to recognise it and offer support.
* Talk: Initiate caring conversations about mental health to foster understanding.
* Challenge: Counter stereotypes and promote acceptance.
* Share Resources: Spread knowledge about available mental health support.
* Self-Care: Prioritise mental well-being through self-care practices.

By uniting in depression awareness, we create a safer, more compassionate world where healing can thrive. Join the movement and make a lasting impact on lives.

Positive psychology focuses on happiness, well-being, resilience, and strengths. It's not about ignoring negatives, but coping with challenges, growing from them, and appreciating what you have. Apply it to your life with gratitude, savoring moments, using strengths, setting SMART goals, being optimistic, and showing kindness.

So how can you apply positive psychology to your own life? Here are some tips:

- Practice gratitude. Write down three things you are thankful for every day, or tell someone you appreciate them.
- Savor the moment. Pay attention to the positive experiences you have, and enjoy them fully. Don't let them slip by unnoticed.
- Use your strengths. Identify what you are good at, and find ways to use them more often. You can take a free online test to discover your strengths here: https://www.viacharacter.org/survey/account/register
- Set goals. Choose something that is important to you, and work towards it. Make sure your goals are SMART: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound.
- Be optimistic. Try to see the bright side of things, and expect good outcomes. Challenge your negative thoughts, and replace them with more realistic ones.
- Be kind. Do something nice for someone else, or volunteer for a cause you care about. Helping others can boost your own happiness and well-being.

What positive psychology technique resonates with you the most, and how do you plan to incorporate it into your daily life? Share your thoughts and ideas below!

We know life can be stressful sometimes, especially when things don't go our way. But don't worry, we are here to share with you some tips on how to relax and cope with difficult times.

1. Breathe deeply. When you feel anxious or overwhelmed, take a few minutes to focus on your breathing. Inhale slowly through your nose and exhale through your mouth. This will help you calm down and clear your mind.
2. Listen to music. Music can have a powerful effect on your mood and emotions. Choose a song that makes you happy or relaxed, and enjoy the melody and lyrics. You can also sing along or dance if you feel like it.
3. Talk to someone. Sometimes, we just need someone to listen and understand us. Reach out to a friend, a family member, or a professional who can offer you support and advice. You don't have to go through this alone.
4. Do something you love. Whether it's reading a book, playing a game, cooking a meal, or anything else that brings you joy, do it! Doing something you love can distract you from your worries and make you feel good about yourself.
5. Practice gratitude. Even when things are tough, there are still many things to be grateful for in life. Make a list of all the things you appreciate, such as your health, your loved ones, your achievements, etc. This will help you focus on the positive and realize how lucky you are.

Remember, you are strong and capable of overcoming any challenge. Take care of yourself and stay positive!

Do you know what the Pareto principle is?

It’s a rule that says 80% of the results come from 20% of the causes. For example, 80% of your sales come from 20% of your customers, or 80% of your happiness comes from 20% of your activities.

Sounds cool, right? But how can you use this principle in your daily life? Well, here are some tips:

– Identify the 20% of things that bring you the most value and satisfaction. Focus on them and eliminate or delegate the rest.

– Prioritize the 20% of tasks that have the most impact and urgency. Do them first and don’t get distracted by the trivial 80%.

– Apply the 80/20 rule to your learning. Find out the 20% of concepts that are essential and master them. You don’t need to know everything to be effective.

– Use the Pareto principle to improve your relationships. Spend more time with the 20% of people who make you happy and support you. Cut out or reduce contact with the toxic 80%.

The Pareto principle can help you simplify your life and achieve more with less.

Did you ever try to follow Pareto principle? Share your experience in comments.
