09/01/2026
Today is the 9th January 2026, so my New Year wishes to you all are delayed, but better late than never!
It seems this year has been a slow starter for most of the clients I have seen so far.
People seem to be struggling to get back into the swing of routine, people are finding it hard to put the chocolates down, people are really having to drag themselves out of bed to get back to work.
I'm not sure if this is something we are all feeling, but it seems that most of my clients really took hibernation literally and are looking for a way to get back to reality.
Usually I would be presented with New Years Resolution lists during the first session of the year, but this year seems to be a little bit more difficult.
Around January time many people decide to join a gym to work on their physical health and the way they look/feel, others take on challenges like 'Dry January',which is brilliant, but for people that struggle with emotional eating / self medicating with alcohol, have you ever looked at why you have treated your body the way you have? Is it an escape from something? Are you unhappy?
Therapy is a brilliant place to begin to look at your patterns, your past, your upbringing, your traumas. Over time, you may not need feel the need to have such unhealthy coping mechanisms.
If you would like to start the year off by prioritising your mental health, please get in touch.
