Joint aspiration (also called joint puncture or arthrocentesis) is a quick, minimally invasive procedure in which a thin needle is inserted into the joint to remove fluid or inject medication.

It’s a simple yet highly effective diagnostic and therapeutic method, usually performed under local anaesthesia.

✅ Joint aspiration may be recommended when:

🔹there is excess fluid or swelling within the joint,
🔹joint fluid needs to be analysed (e.g. suspected infection or gout),
🔹medication (such as corticosteroids or hyaluronic acid) needs to be injected,
🔹pain and stiffness are caused by inflammation inside the joint.

Knee arthroscopy is a minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedure that allows precise assessment and treatment of structures inside the knee joint.

It’s often recommended when conservative treatment hasn’t provided satisfactory results or when a detailed evaluation of joint damage is needed.

The most common indications for knee arthroscopy include:

✅meniscus tear,
✅ligament injuries (e.g. ACL),
✅loose bodies within the joint,
✅persistent knee pain or swelling,
✅limited range of motion,

1. Choose Your Treats Wisely
