Your immune system and your hormones talk to each other every single day.

✨ When oestrogen is stable and progesterone is present → the immune system tends to stay calmer and more regulated.

🔥 When oestrogen is low or fluctuating (hello PMS, postpartum, perimenopause) → the immune system shifts toward inflammation.

This helps explain why:
• Joint pain can flare before your period
• Fatigue and brain fog often worsen in perimenopause
• Autoimmune symptoms tend to appear or intensify as hormones change

Supporting autoimmune health means also supporting hormonal rhythm:
- Stabilise blood sugar
- Calm the stress response + reduce gut inflammation
- Support ovulation (even if you are not trying to conceive)
- Nourish detox pathways and the microbiome

When hormones and the immune system work in synch, symptoms often soften, energy improves, and the body becomes more resilient 💛

✨ How Osteopathy Can Support Autoimmune Arthritis

Autoimmune arthritis, such as rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, or psoriatic arthritis, isn’t just about painful joints. It’s an immune system imbalance that triggers chronic inflammation, stiffness, and fatigue.

💆‍♀️ Osteopathy helps by gently improving mobility, reducing inflammation, and calming the nervous system, all of which can support immune regulation.

Both structural and cranial osteopathy can be helpful:
🌿 Structural osteopathy eases tension, improves circulation and lymphatic flow, and supports joint alignment.
💫 Cranial osteopathy works more subtly to calm the autonomic nervous system, reduce inflammatory signalling, and promote whole-body balance.

Together, they can help:
- Reduce pain and stiffness
- Support joint health and mobility
- Improve lymphatic drainage
- Ease fatigue and stress

At Wellthy Clinic, we collaborate with doctors and medical specialists to provide a complementary approach, helping your body adapt, move more freely, and achieve better balance daily. 🌿

👉 If you are living with autoimmune arthritis, combining osteopathy, movement, and nutrition can help you feel more in control of your health again.

Is mould making you sick?

Many people think mould exposure just causes a stuffy nose or mild allergies, but the reality is far more complex.

👉 Mould produces spores, fragments, and mycotoxins.
Spores can trigger allergic reactions ranging from sneezing to severe asthma.
Fragments (500x more common than spores) are highly inflammatory and can stay in the lungs.
Mycotoxins are tiny, lipophilic compounds that slip past your body’s defences, enter circulation, and even cross the blood–brain barrier.

⚡ What mould can do to your health:
- Suppresses immune cells and depletes glutathione (your master antioxidant).
- Triggers brain fog and neurological symptoms.
- Causes persistent fatigue by damaging mitochondria.
- Drives chronic inflammation in the gut, sinuses, and beyond.
- Disrupts hormone and reproductive health.
- Contributes to autoimmunity and long-term immune dysregulation.

💡 Research has linked mould and mycotoxins with conditions like chronic fatigue syndrome, thyroid dysfunction, MS, demyelinating neuropathy, and even increased cancer risk.

If you are struggling with mysterious, multi-system symptoms, and especially if they improve when you are away from home, your environment might be part of the missing puzzle.

Autoimmune musculoskeletal pain isn’t just sore joints or the occasional flare-up.
It’s waking up stiff, aching, and fatigued, even after a good night’s sleep. Muscles may feel tender to the touch, joints can feel inflamed for no apparent reason, and everyday movements can become unpredictable.

💡 Did you know?
Autoimmune inflammation can affect not only joints, but also muscles, tendons, ligaments, and even the nervous system.
Flare-ups aren’t always linked to overuse; stress, gut health, and hormone changes can all trigger them.

🛠 Small daily habits that can help:
- Gentle morning stretches to ease stiffness before getting out of bed.
- For stiffness: try gentle heat (like a warm shower). For hot, swollen joints: use a cold pack to calm inflammation.
- Balanced meals with protein, colourful vegetables, and healthy fats to reduce inflammation.
- Short movement breaks every 30–60 minutes to keep joints from stiffening.
- Breathing or relaxation exercises to help calm the nervous system.

This pain isn’t ‘just in your head’, it’s your immune system mistaking your own tissues for a threat, leading to ongoing inflammation that affects joints, muscles, tendons, even your energy levels and mood.

We support people living with this kind of pain using a unique combination of osteopathy, nutrition, and Pilates. It’s a whole-body approach to calm inflammation, restore movement, and rebuild strength, gently and consistently.
