Our Founder & CEO Maryam Meddin was interviewed by Helen Farmer on Dubai Eye 103.8 today.

Our hearts go out to the whole school community at The Study Prep School and everyone affected by the devastating incident that occurred in Wimbledon.

Following news of the tragic event we’ve had conversations with parents asking whether there is a single suitable way to talk to their child about loss and grief.

Our first response is that there is no right answer. Children grieve differently than adults and everyone’s story will be different based on respective communities, cultures, and faiths.

Our second response is to advocate an honest and open conversation, in which the core message is that there is no shame in grieving.

This video from a recent event at The Soke, in conversation with Grief Investigator, Lizzie Pickering, shows Lizzie reflecting on her grief journey more than two decades on from her son Harry’s death.

If you need to reach out for further support, we have specialist practitioners at The Soke who can help no matter where the child, young adult or you may be on the grieving journey.

Meet our multi-disciplinary team at

Matt Reid, Adult Therapist

Matt has worked within various settings supporting those with specific needs such as addiction and bereavement, as well as general counselling provision. He has led, developed and managed Diploma training in counselling and taught at both foundation certificate and diploma levels. Matt is also an experienced clinical supervisor.

In addition to offering integrative therapy, psycho-dynamic, person-centred and CBT approaches, Matt has also undertaken further psychotherapeutic training such as body psychotherapy to further enhance his therapeutic skills.

Andrew Sweeting, Adult Therapist

Andrew specialises in evidence-based therapies, using modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) and integrative counselling.

Andrew was a visiting lecturer at both UCL and the University of Wolverhampton. He provided therapy to clients in the public sector whilst working for Devon Partnership Trust and West London mental health trust. He also supports businesses and organisations with mental health training, enhancing the overall wellbeing of clients and organisations.

Meet our multi-disciplinary team at

Dean Nicholson, Head of Adult Therapy

Before joining Dean worked at The Priory where he grew the therapy programmes offered from one service into six and introduced a DBT programme, mindfulness, drama, 3rd wave therapies, equine therapy and Transactional Analysis to the organisation. He is known for his experience, compassion and approachability.

Dean currently offers availability on Thursday afternoons at Soke Wimbledon.
