Some of us grew up with particularly either authoritarian or permissive parents and we may have memories of our experiences. Various studies have shown that an involved and engaged dad is likely to have positive impacts on children. The term “Father Effect” was coined to describe these effects. Researchers at the Imperial College London found that infants who had present and engaged fathers did significantly better on cognitive tests by the age of 2 (Sethna et al., 2017).
