What is the GP+ Project?

This innovative concept, meticulously crafted by Dr. Ash, addresses the unique challenges faced by GPs and family physicians in Pakistan. Given the variability in GP practices within the country, where GPs can often be the first and last healthcare contact for a patient, it is imperative for them to possess additional knowledge and skills.

Challenges Faced by GPs in Pakistan

The majority of GPs in Pakistan lack structured postgraduate training, making them potentially unsafe due to the absence of pre-hospital care, a deficient referral system, and inadequate access to urgent investigations and medications. The GP+ Plus Programme aims to empower GPs and family physicians with essential knowledge and skills for safe medical practice.

Who is a GP+ Plus Practitioner?

A GP+ is a General Practitioner who not only possesses general knowledge in Family Medicine but also acquires specialized knowledge and skills directly from specialists in the NHS UK. This pioneering concept, unparalleled in any part of the world, ensures that GP+ practitioners have expertise in all major specialties to handle a wide range of medical issues and refer patients timely for specialist input.

What Distinguishes a GP+ Practitioner?

A GP+ Plus Practitioner possesses additional knowledge and skills across major medical and surgical specialties, enabling them to go beyond the typical GP role. Their capabilities include addressing minor injuries, trauma, interpreting diagnostic results, managing pediatric illnesses, providing care for acute medical problems, and developing excellent communication skills.
