Health care workers give so much throughout the year. As Christmas approaches, we're taking a moment to acknowledge their hard work and what might help lighten the load.
Here's to comfort, wellbeing, and the teams who make a difference every day!
What's on your Christmas wish list? ๐

On Friday, we swapped our desks for dancing, our emails for celebrations, and reminded ourselves what makes this team truly special!๐
2025 hasn't been easy. The mental health sector continues to face unprecedented challenges, and every placement we've made, every professional we've supported, and every service we've helped to staff has required dedication, resilience, and genuine care.
But Friday night? Friday night was about us.
Seeing our team together in full festive spirit; laughing, celebrating, and genuinely enjoying each other's company, reminded us why we do what we do.
We're not just colleagues filling roles; we're a team that supports each other through the pressures, celebrates the wins (big and small), and shows up for one another when things get tough.
The Christmas spirit was alive and well. After a year of hard work, late calls, and going the extra mile for our CAMHS professionals and the services that depend on them, it felt incredible to let our hair down, raise a glass (or two!), and simply enjoy being together.
To our incredible team: thank you. For your commitment, your compassion, and for making CAMHS Professionals not just a workplace, but a team that genuinely has each other's backs.
Here's to the wins we've shared, the challenges we've overcome together, and the positive impact we'll continue making as we head into 2025. ๐
Merry Christmas from all of us at CAMHS Professionals! ๐

It's World Mental Health Day! ๐
We asked our team to share one small thing they do to support their mental health... A morning walk. Calling a friend. Setting time aside for yourself.
We're privileged to work alongside mental health professionals everyday, we see firsthand the incredible work that is being done to support individuals through their most challenging moments.
Today feels like the perfect moment to remind everyone (including ourselves!) that mental health isn't about grand gestures. It's often the small, consistent things that make the biggest difference.
We hope you're able to carve out a few moments today for whatever helps you recharge ๐
What's one small thing you do for your mental health?

Did you know that over half a million people in the UK are currently waiting for an ADHD assessment? Behind this staggering statistic are children, adolescents, and their families navigating uncertainty, struggling in school, and waiting for the support they desperately need.
This ADHD Awareness Month, it's important that we all raise awareness about:
๐ The importance of reducing assessment wait times
๐ Supporting families during the assessment process
๐ Creating ADHD-friendly environments in schools and communities
๐ Breaking down stigma through education and understanding
Every young person deserves access to the mental health support that can help them thrive. Together, we can advocate for better resources and shorter wait times.

HAPPINESS AND HEALTH: EXPLORING THE MIND-BODY CONNECTION
In general, happiness is understood as the positive emotions we have in regards to the pleasurable activities we take part in through our daily lives.
Pleasure, comfort, gratitude, hope, and inspiration are examples of positive emotions that increase our happiness and move us to flourish.
In scientific literature, happiness is referred to as hedonia, the presence of positive emotions and the absence of negative emotions.
In a more broad understanding, human wellbeing is made up of both Hedonic and Eudaimonic principles.
The literature on which is vast and describes our personal meaning and purpose in life.
Research on happiness over the years has found that there are some contributing correlational factors that affect our happiness.
These include:
- Time and place
- Personality Type
- Goals and self-efficacy

- Attachment and relatedness
- Attitude towards physical health

Dan Gilbert, author of "Stumbling on Happiness," challenges the idea that we'll be miserable if we don't get what we want.
Our "psychological immune system" lets us feel truly happy even when things don't go as planned.

THE DYSFUNCTIONAL BEHAVIOURAL CYCLES
Although our feelings and our thoughts (as well as our attitudes and beliefs) can get us into trouble.
Itโs usually our behaviours that really get us into trouble. Thatโs because itโs our behaviours that really count.
If we have good self-control, no matter what we feel, think, or believe, weโre able to manage our behaviours.
Feelings and thoughts lead to our behaviour, so real behavioural control starts long before we actually act.
But in the end, itโs our behaviour that counts the most.
For most people, the things they do โ their behaviour โ are predictable.
We can sometimes guess what someone is going to do in a similar situation in the future because of what he or she has done in the past.
Behaviour that is repeated forms a type of โcycleโ it repeats itself again and again, making a pattern.
In a pattern, you can see how the parts fit together and predict how the design repeats.
This is true for behaviour as well, and many people repeat parts of their behaviour over and over.
When behaviour repeats this way, we call it a cycle of behaviour, or a behavioural cycle.

YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH DAY 2023
Youth Mental Health Day (YMHD) promotes a deeper understanding and open dialogue about mental well-being in young individuals, empowering them to lead wholesome and joyful lives throughout the year.
Every annual celebration of this day centres on sparking conversations among the youth and their supporters, focusing on enhancing mental health.
The Journey of :
The challenges of mental health among the youth have surged in recent periods.
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, statistics showed one in every six young individuals between the ages of 5-16 experienced a mental disorder.
However, in these challenging times, the YMHD emerges as a beacon of hope.
YMHD not only raises awareness but also breaks societal barriers, addressing the core concerns surrounding youth mental health.
The UK-based charity, stem4, dedicated to fortifying young minds, is the proud initiator of Youth Mental Health Day, which originated in 2020.
stem4 equips the youth with resources, including complimentary apps, to foster mental resilience, combat anxiety and desolation, induce tranquillity, and deter self-harming tendencies.
Moreover, stem4 offers a dedicated app to assist parents nurturing youth with mental health challenges.
The charity extends its support by provisioning resources for stakeholders in a young person's life, such as parents, educators, medical professionals, and school health advisors.
stem4's commitment includes delivering mental health education, devising resilience techniques, and early interventions.
These efforts are augmented with a progressive educational framework, an evidence-based website, and dedicated mental health symposiums.
Under the esteemed guidance of Dr. Nihara Krause, a prominent clinical psychologist and parliamentary mental health advisor, stem4 continues its impactful journey.
