n the UK, an unpaid carer is someone who provides care and support to a family member, friend, or neighbour who cannot manage without their help due to illness, disability, mental health issues, addiction, or age-related challenges. Crucially, this care is not paid employment, though some carers may receive benefits like Carer’s Allowance.

🧡 Definition from NHS and Carers Trust
NHS England defines a carer as “anyone who looks after a family member, partner or friend who needs help because of their illness, frailty, disability, mental health problem or addiction and cannot cope without their support. The care they give is unpaid.”

Carers Trust adds that carers can be of any age, from a teenager supporting a parent to an elderly spouse caring for their partner.

We are deeply saddened to share the news of Remi’s passing. Remi was a cherished part of our community — kind, thoughtful, and always ready with a warm smile or a helping hand. Her presence brought light to so many, and their absence will be felt profoundly.

As we remember Remi, let us hold onto the joy they brought into our lives and the strength they showed in theirs. Our thoughts are with their loved ones during this difficult time.###

Rest peacefully, Remi. You will be missed, but never forgotten

Mental Health Theme this year is community....To me, community means connection, support, and a shared sense of belonging. It's about people coming together, whether through shared experiences, values, or goals, and creating a space where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. A thriving community fosters collaboration, celebrates diversity, and encourages mutual care.

Community can be as small as a neighborhood or as broad as a global network, but what makes it truly special is the relationships and bonds formed within it. It's where people lift each other up in challenging times, celebrate achievements together, and work towards common aspirations.
