Meditate in Woolwich We offer regular meditation classes in the heart of Woolwich, London. Everybody is
welcome!

We teach special methods from modern Kadampa Buddhism to overcome negativity and cultivate deep inner peace. Meditation classes take place from 7pm to 8.15pm on Tuesdays at The Woolwich College They include special meditations and practices, taught by Buddha, to solve our daily problems and make our minds peaceful.

FREE MEDITATION CLASSES IN WOOLWICH STARTS TONIGHT, TUESDAY OCTOBER 25TH

Hello Woolwich People!

My names Rich and I'm the Woolwich meditation class teacher. Our small group is slowly growing. And we'd love you to join us!

In each class I guide two relaxing meditations and give a talk, offering practical advice for living a happier, joyful, lighter life.
You will learn the special Buddhist methods for letting go of stress, worry, frustration and negativity as well as the positive thinking techniques you need to solve our daily problems. And best of all, you get two taster classes for free. You've nothing to lose!

Please feel free to join us - we're friendly, relaxed and we're all trying to improve the quality of our lives using the method of Kadampa Buddhism and meditation.

There is no special equipment required and we sit on chairs. You don't need to book - simply turn up and enjoy the free talk and guided meditations.

THE STORIES WE TELL OURSELVES:

I saw this photo and it made me smile! But there is wisdom right here -

Sometimes we like to say 'I can't do this' or 'I can't do that', we hold views about ourselves as being this way or that and these views seems to be very real. These thoughts in our mind seem so solid and accurate. The solidity we create by telling ourselves these stories over and over, about how we should be, how we shouldn't be, how things should be and how things shouldn't be, can be very damaging and prevent us from making positive changes in our lives. We come up with all sorts of reasons why we can't do something, why we can't change a certain detrimental habit, transform a hampering mindset, or overcome fear, or laziness. We waste so much time telling ourselves stories that re-affirming our inability to make positive changes - WE are in fact our biggest obstacles!

The stories we tell ourselves are just thoughts. Nothing more. We don't have to simply believe everything we think. Try to see your stories as clouds in the sky - they come and go - nothing about them is solid and permanent - they are simply clouds in our sky-like mind. They cannot harm us. The next time you notice a story arise in the mind, don't believe it, don't trust it - it's just a fantastical creation of your own self-grasping mind that will keep you locked into your worry, fears and anxieties. You can be free of these nonsense stories at any time, you can choose to walk away, turn your mind away from them - it's your choice

This wonderful Festival is a manifestation of the great kindness in the heart of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche.

It is his wish that we gather three times a year for international Festivals and enjoy teachings, meditations, and prayers as an international family. Each time we do we feel more and more the great kindness in Venerable Geshe-la's heart and experience more and more deeply his extraordinary vision.

The entire Festival is run by people attending the Festival who volunteer their time and energy to help it run smoothly.

Today marks the end of our extraordinary International Summer Festival of meditation. Over 2000 meditators from around the world attended the festival in Ulverston, Cumbria. I was thrilled to see so many of you there.

Each day we ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner together; we did morning meditation in the beautiful world peace temple and listened to the extraordinary wisdom of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, our beloved teacher. In the evenings we engaged in pujas (chanted prayers) and slept peacefully in the surrounding woodlands.

But what will people take away with them as they return home?

From the sheer joy of being able to gather again after such a long break through the amazing teachings and Festival experiences, for many people Summer Festival 2022 has been life-changing.
