My comments on the birth trauma report.
๐ There are so many other recommendations that haven't come to fruition, another 12 won't help, we need action, someone to join the dots and bring all the NHS care recommendations together.
๐There is no recovery plan if you have a caesarean. No standard operating procedures for your aftercare. No wound care service.Despite another set of recommendations coming from National Wound Care Strategy on surgical wounds, and workforce education on how to assess wounds, by all staff including health visitors and GPs.
๐คI find it baffling and disrespectful to see midwives targetted for blame. They are doing the best they can, with what Leaders in LMNS are throwing at them. Leaders and ICB boards made the decisions. Midwives mop up the mess, thrown at them.
๐Midwives are hero's until you've been one, you have no idea!

Self care, can prevail, knowledge is power, and there is power in recovery. Tell me, show me, and I will remember, so I can be well.
In the last 5 years there have been so many maternity papers, the trauma APPG report should be the last. Women deserve more, midwives deserve more, being born deserves attention ๐ถ
