1 in 8 men will develop prostate cancer and it is the most common cancer in men.

Your risk increases with age, and it mainly affects men over 50 years old. You have a higher risk if you have a family history or are black.

It is important to speak to a healthcare professional about getting a blood test (PSA blood test) if you are 50 or from 45 if you have a higher risk, as the earlier it is detected the more successful the treatment.

We were delighted to recently perform our first partial nephrectomy on the da Vinci Single Port (SP) with Mr Chris Anderson, Consultant Urological Surgeon at Cromwell Hospital.

A partial nephrectomy is a complex kidney cancer operation which involves excision of a tumour and reconstruction of the kidney.

The da Vinci SP robotic-assisted surgical system allows this operation to be done through a single incision, with excellent precision that provides a significant benefit to the patients, particularly rapid recovery, early discharge and return to normal activity.

Thank you to Mr Anderson and the team involved in this key milestone on the da Vinci SP!

Lung cancer is the third most common type of cancer in the UK.

Most cases of lung cancer are caused by smoking. If you are a heavy smoker, or have been in the past, you should have a lung cancer screening to monitor your lungs.

However, it is important to note that the incidence of lung cancer is increasing in patients who have never smoked.

When you're in pain and can't wait, our Urgent Care Centre is here for you.

Our Urgent Care Centre offers you fast access to an emergency medicine consultant from 8am to 7pm every day for minor injuries and illnesses.

We accept walk-in patients over 18, no appointment or referral necessary.

Please note that patients who have suffered severe life or limb-threatening injuries, have signs of a stroke, or have severe, central crushing chest pain should call 999 immediately.
