Products I love from Chicago that will make your in house printing so much easier or if you’re thinking about in-house printing - watch this.

These were the 2 things I saw that will genuinely change how predictable chairside printing is for you.

Just back from Chicago Midwinter & Cal-Lab centenary meeting.

A really interesting few days with lots of conversations, ideas and a few things that will definitely influence how we approach cases moving forward. Watch the reel and find out more 👆

We see it every day.
The margin looks fine. The prep looks fine.
Then the bite… isn’t.

In this video we show you exactly how to get the bite right —
no guesswork, no remakes, no “can the lab adjust it?”

We’re Biterite for a reason 😉

Anyone been wondering what’s been going on in the lab?
Well… here you go 👆

A lot has changed at Biterite over the past year — not just new equipment, but a completely rebuilt workflow designed to make full-arch more predictable for clinicians.

And yes… stick around to the end for a very important update on Michael’s “lab injury” 😲

(There is a reason he’s so determined to remove analogue dentistry from the process…)

FP1 full-arch workflow using photogrammetry
Every dataset matters. This is the order ⬇️

Pre-op
1️⃣ Upper & lower scans + bite
2️⃣ Diagnostic wax-up

Day of surgery
3️⃣ Fiduciary marker screw placed in the palate + pre-op scan capturing the fiduciary marker screw
4️⃣ Teeth extracted, bone reduction completed, implants placed, MUAs torqued down
5️⃣ Intra-oral scan using DESS scan flags capturing the fiduciary marker screw
6️⃣ Photogrammetry scan using dot posts

All four datasets are then aligned and combined to design a provisional bridge, fabricated directly to the MUAs and secured with Rosen screws.

With FP1 cases, photogrammetry allows us to control pontic form from day one — creating correct pontic shapes, ovate pontics, and open embrasures to properly stimulate the soft tissue.
That means when we come to the final restoration, the tissue is already where it should be — no surprises, no compromises, and results that look as they should.

Precision in. Predictability out.

📌 Most Common Clinical & Digital Mistakes That Cause Lab Issues

1. Poor or Incomplete Impressions / Scans
• Incomplete margins
• Missing distal surfaces
• Collapsed soft tissue
• Moisture contamination
• Scan stitching errors
• Not retracting enough for clear margin exposure

2. Unclear or Inaccurate Margins
• Margins not visible due to blood, saliva, or poor retraction
• Over-aggressive chamfer or uneven margins
• No confirmation of margin clarity before sending

3. Missing or Inaccurate Bite Registrations
• No opposing arch
• Inaccurate bite scan
• Taking only one occlusal record
• Patient biting incorrectly during the scan

4. Poor Communication With the Lab
• No shade photo
• No prep shade
• No instructions on material preference
• Vague or missing design expectations (shape, length, contours)
• Sending messages at the fit appointment instead of during planning

5. No Diagnostic Wax-Up / Blueprint
• Sending “prep and pray” cases
• Expecting the lab to guess the esthetic outcome
• Not providing smile design references

6. Incorrect Case Classification or Planning
• Misidentifying implant case type
• Not describing occlusal scheme
• Attempting complex cases without proper documentation
• Not informing the lab about pathological occlusal issues

7. Bad Photos or Not Enough Photos
• Poor lighting
• Wrong angulation
• No shade tab alignment
• No full-face smile photos when needed

8. Poor Prep Design
• Insufficient clearance
• Under-reduction or uneven reduction
• Sharp edges instead of smooth transitions
• Heavy bevels or unsupported enamel

9. Not Following Photogrammetry or Implant Scanning Protocols
• Incorrect order of scans
• Missing soft-tissue scan
• Improper alignment of scan bodies
• Wrong scan body brand entered

10. Rushing or Skipping Verification
• Not reviewing scans before sending
• Assuming “the lab will fix it”
• Not double-checking STL files for artifacts

🧩 Bottom Line

You don’t need cheaper labs —
you need cleaner data, clearer communication, and proper planning.

We’re technicians — not magicians.
Some implant position errors can’t be corrected at restoration stage.

If you want predictable outcomes, fewer compromises, and less stress at fit…

Predictability doesn’t come from rushing.
It comes from systems, checks, and prosthetically driven workflows.

At Biterite, we’ve built an integrated ecosystem of software and case-management tools, using our full digital workflow to ensure every case flows correctly from planning to fit.
