As Halloween approaches, remember that the night can bring unexpected knocks, loud noises, and unusual sights - which might cause confusion or anxiety for some older adults, especially those living with dementia or sensory sensitivities.

Here are a few ways to help keep the evening calm and safe:

🕯️ Keep lights on to discourage repeated knocking.
📞 Check in with loved ones who live alone.
🎵 Play soft music or a favorite show to help reduce startling noises.
🚪 Consider placing a friendly “No Trick-or-Treaters, Please” sign on the door if needed.
💬 Offer reassurance and stay patient if the excitement feels overwhelming.

A little preparation and extra care can make Halloween enjoyable and stress-free for everyone 👻💛

Our story

The Good Care Group was founded in the UK in 2009 with a vision of becoming the leading provider of high-quality home care services that enable people to continue to live comfortably in their homes for longer.

The Good Care Group delivers live-in care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Care is delivered in the homes of people ranging from those who can’t quite manage to look after themselves and need companionship, to those dealing with debilitating or serious health conditions and need assistance to live independently.

All professional carers are employed by us – we do not use agency staff. Our recruitment process for carers is rigorous and those who are selected receive market-leading training and on-going professional development to ensure the very highest standards of care.

We are leading the way in supporting those with specialist medical conditions, including dementia, Parkinson’s, MS and Motor Neurone disease, improving overall wellbeing and quality of life. Our service is fully managed, 24/7 and care is continually monitored by a dedicated team local to you that provides unrivalled support to clients and families. We are always striving to innovate our services, all of which are backed up by robust systems and processes that support the quality of care we deliver.
