Look out for the subtle signs of dementia ๐Ÿฉท

The NHS has recently urged people across the UK to be mindful of subtle warning signs of dementia in loved ones โ€“ especially during family gatherings over the festive season. Early awareness and prompt action can make a meaningful difference in securing the right support and care.

In our recent blog, we've shared practical examples of changes in behaviour that could signal the early stages of dementia:

Christmas gifts for the Scotland Team ๐ŸŽ„

The Scotland team wanted to share a wonderful gesture from professional carer, Jennifer. After finding out the date of their Christmas lunch, she sent a package to the office marked: โ€œDo not open until December 17th.โ€ The team brought it along to their lunch, and inside they discovered handmade Christmas-themed Disney ears for everyone, along with a lovely cup filled with chocolates - prepared entirely by Jennifer herself.

It was a beautiful surprise, and the team were incredibly grateful. Jennifer truly made their day!

Grief Awareness Week ๐Ÿ’›

This week, we want to shine a light on anticipatory grief - the grief felt by carers and loved ones of people with dementia before their loved one passes away.

Anticipatory grief can show up as a deep sadness over changes in the person, loss of shared memories, or shifts in your relationship. As dementia progresses, it can feel like a series of small losses that build up over time.

You donโ€™t have to go through this alone. Talking to someone you trust - or a professional - can help.

Dementia UK offers free support through their helpline, where you can speak with an Admiral Nurse:

We're proud to be reshaping how the world sees live-in care ๐Ÿก

Our Marketing Director, Belinda Hanton, speaks powerfully in this feature about redefining how families understand and experience care.

A fresh brand, a clearer voice, and a renewed commitment to raising the standard of live-in care. Weโ€™re ready to lead the change in a sector that requires a more empathetic, modern approach.

Read how we're setting a new standard for what great care looks like ๐Ÿ‘‡

The Good Care Group is on a journey to challenge perceptions about home care, while changing how the sector has traditionally been marketed.

Our story

The Good Care Group was founded in the UK in 2009 with a vision of becoming the leading provider of high-quality home care services that enable people to continue to live comfortably in their homes for longer.

The Good Care Group delivers live-in care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Care is delivered in the homes of people ranging from those who canโ€™t quite manage to look after themselves and need companionship, to those dealing with debilitating or serious health conditions and need assistance to live independently.

All professional carers are employed by us โ€“ we do not use agency staff. Our recruitment process for carers is rigorous and those who are selected receive market-leading training and on-going professional development to ensure the very highest standards of care.

We are leading the way in supporting those with specialist medical conditions, including dementia, Parkinsonโ€™s, MS and Motor Neurone disease, improving overall wellbeing and quality of life. Our service is fully managed, 24/7 and care is continually monitored by a dedicated team local to you that provides unrivalled support to clients and families. We are always striving to innovate our services, all of which are backed up by robust systems and processes that support the quality of care we deliver.
