If I had a pound for every time someone suggested to 'just relax' to get pregnant, I would have a very full piggy bank. It is perhaps the most well-meaning, yet deeply dismissive piece of advice out there.
When navigating the highs and lows of a fertility journey, your body is often on high alert. Telling yourself to 'just relax' usually has the opposite effect. It creates a new layer of stress because now you are worried that your worry is the problem.
The truth is, you do not need to be perfectly zen to conceive. Your body is capable of incredible things, even when you are feeling anxious or overwhelmed.
Instead of forcing 'relaxation', try these small, grounding rituals:
-Focus on your breath for two minutes, noticing the rise and fall of your chest without trying to change it.
-Spend five minutes with your feet on the grass or a textured rug, focusing entirely on the sensation.
-Write down one thing that felt heavy today and physically set the paper aside.
Validation is often more healing than forced calm. You are allowed to feel everything you are feeling.
