Andrew Reid

Andrew Reid Andrew Reid is a specialist commissioning, design and diagnostic consultancy, providing professional In 1982 we began working for J. Sainsbury’s.

The practice was formed in 1970 when Mr Andrew Reid left Haden Young to establish a consulting engineering practice intent on providing a very high level of service and technically excellent engineering designs. Shortly after forming the firm, a working relationship developed with Robert Blower and Partners and this was subsequently to see the formation the Andrew Reid, Robert Blower Partnership. Work quickly came in; strong relationships developed with clients and contractors alike and we found ourselves working across the nation on large scale hospitals, universities and commercial office buildings. As the firm’s reputation for excellence grew, commissions were received in the Arts sector, notable for the Guildhall School of Music, the National Theatre and the Barbican Arts Centre. We have continued working, either directly or indirectly for them ever since and have been engaged on the vast majority of their stores, nationwide. As a result of this relationship we were invited to undertake design work for The National Gallery; here too, we have continued to work for the Gallery continuously ever since and have very recently secured a position on their four year framework agreement. This has since led to considerable work in the sector with clients including the British Museum, Dulwich Picture Gallery, Imperial War Museum and Ashmolean Museum of Art & Archaeology. The Broadgate development in London was a significant project and in 1983. Andrew Reid was appointed on the first of all fourteen phases of commissioning management in this highly prestigious project. The relationship with British Land (Broadgate) and the contractors involved continued to flourish and we were routinely appointed to design or manage the commissioning of the engineering services on other high profile projects including Ludgate, ITN’s new headquarters in the Grays Inn Road and interestingly, Barings Bank just prior to it’s demise. In view of impending retirement, Mr Andrew Reid handed over the reins of the practice to the three remaining partners in March 1997, and actually retired a month later.

1997 saw the beginning of a relationship with Deutsche Bank which has continued to this day, with the commissioning management of their new London headquarters at Winchester House. We have been involved on their estate throughout the UK ever since and additionally have travelled across the globe on various Deutsche Bank commissions. The late 1990s saw the birth of the data centre sector and we were there at the start. In view of the highly complex engineering involved, it is a sector in which we have continued to flourish; serving clients internationally. The legal status of the firm changed in 2003 to that of a limited liability partnership. In April 2011 ISO 9001 was achieved in respect of the design and commissioning of engineering services and a new company was formed, Andrew Reid & Partners (Consulting Engineers) Ltd. In September 2014 Hurleypalmerflatt Group Ltd acquired a majority share in the company. Today, the company continues to successfully service end user clients and contractors in facilities including commercial offices, data centres, galleries, healthcare, housing, laboratories, museums, retail outlets and other specialist buildings.

On 30th July, Mike O'Mahony and Steve Hawkins will take on the Prudential 100 Ride London Event to raise money for children's research charity, Sparks.

Starting at the Queen Elizabeth II Olympic Park, the 100-mile route follows the Olympic circuit all the way to Surrey, where we will take on Leith Hill and the iconic Box Hill climbs before heading back to London for the finish, in front of thousands of cheering spectators along The Mall.
Since 1991 Sparks has been playing a vital role in improving the health and quality of life for children in the UK and worldwide by funding high quality cutting edge medical research.

Between 2015 and 2020, dependent on available funds, Sparks aims to build capacity in children’s health research and support the researchers of the future by offering project and innovation grants, PhD studentships, clinical research training fellowships and programme grants.
Additionally, Sparks continue to support research into a broad range of medical conditions affecting children’s health including pregnancy and birth, first months of life, as well as infancy and early childhood.

Please dig deep, and help make all the training and pain associated with it worthwhile.
