Not bad for 53 😉

But this isn’t about belts. It’s about proving to yourself that you can still get stronger, braver and more capable, at any age.

I didn’t grow up doing martial arts. I started st almost 50 because my daughter pushed me to try something new.

Some days I don’t feel like training, today I woke up with a massive migraine and didn’t feel like grading.

But I went anyway.

To the women who think it’s “too late”…
It’s not. Your body is adaptable, your brain keeps learning. Your confidence grows.

You don’t need to become a martial artist.
But you need to keep doing hard things.

And yes, DJ is clearly underwhelmed by my achievement 😂

This isn’t really about dragon fruit…

Although it is beautiful, vibrant and packed with fibre and antioxidants, what this really represents is something I see missing in so many people’s diets : variety.

Most people I work with aren’t necessarily eating “badly”. They’re often stuck eating the same safe foods on repeat.

Over time, this lack of diversity can impact the gut microbiome, which plays a huge role in inflammation, cravings, energy levels, metabolism and even hormonal balance.

The veggie frittata I made last night was the perfect lunch after a fairly intense martial arts session; easy protein, lots of micronutrients and zero cooking involved which is perfect when you’re tired and hungry ☺️

Frittatas are a brilliant way to use up leftover vegetables while packing in high quality protein, fibre, vitamins and healthy fats which are all key for energy, recovery, and blood sugar balance.

They’re also one of those meals that:

🍳 take very little effort to make
🍳 keep well in the fridge
🍳 reheat beautifully
🍳 make the perfect quick lunch or post training meal

Sometimes the simplest meals are the most supportive for long-term health.

Healthy eating doesn’t have to be complicated ☺️

Friday night….and instead of cocktails and heels, it’s pots, pans, oven on too and batch cooking over here 😂

Not glamorous, not Instagram-perfect, and definitely not a spotless kitchen, but this is real life and honestly one of the best things I do for my future self.

A couple of hrs of batch cooking means:
🥦 less stress during busy days ahead
🥦 better food choices when I’m tired
🥦 more balanced meals without overthinking it
🥦 supporting energy, blood sugar and overall health

Health isn’t built with perfection, it’s built with small, consistent habits that work and make life easier.

Anyone else living the ‘Friday night food prep party’ lifestyle, or is it just me? 😂

Btw, batch cooking doesn’t have to happen on a Friday night! It just worked out this was for me today.

Currently in London where it feels like it’s been raining since 2010! So here’s a little throwback to sunshine, sand and warmth ☀️ 🌵 🐪

The picture was taken in the desert and I remember thinking how different everything feels when you are outdoors and have light and warmth around you.

It’s amazing how much our mood, energy and even sleep can shift just by being outside and reconnecting with nature.

Consider this a gentle reminder to grab daylight whenever you can, even if you can grab just a short walk between rain showers. It all counts 🙂
