The VCHA is a group of NHS healthcare providers in England committed to providing the best standards of care for the Armed Forces community.

We are delighted to announce the award of £3.7 million from UKRI Medical Research Council and NIHR to the INSIGHT Eye Hub at Moorfields, which is the world’s largest collection of ophthalmic imaging data linked to clinical records.

The funding will support a four-year initiative to expand INSIGHT across the NHS, linking national data resources to accelerate research, improve patient care and foster innovation in eye health.

A study at Moorfields has found that Artificial Intelligence could help clinicians monitor patients with wet AMD more accurately, ensuring that those people most at risk of sight loss are prioritised for treatment. The research was made possible with anonymised eye imaging data from our INSIGHT Hub.
