So (if you're interested) "What does this Health Practitioner/Nutritionist eat (and why)?

From my perspective, and after years of studying the body, nutrition and illnesses, I keep things simple, balanced and am implementing things I know make a huge difference to my current health and future prospects.

My diet is simple:
I have lemon water every day, and add vitamin c. A herbal tea, no caffeine unless I'm tired. Fruits for antioxidants, fiber, and natural vitamins (and because they're tasty)! Usually pineapple.
I eat 3-4 eggs a day. Protein (meat or fish) with every meal with some vegetables, usually carrots and broccoli (broccoli being a super food). I eat a mix of things but I go heavy on good quality meats, for the complete amino acids, protein and nutrient density. Protein is high on my list because I want to sustain my physical ability and muscle, brain function, immune function, energy & metabolism. As for carbs, I have a tiny portion most days and pasta or rice dish weekly for variety and enjoyment. This pattern also keeps my weight in check.

I usually skip breakfast, because I'm sat behind a desk and don't need all those extra calories piling up as fat, and fasting is a great idea, (usually 18 hours 3-4 days a week). Weekends I'll usually do breakfast for the family as we can all sit and chat too.

Then, there are my Nutrition items, because it's ESSENTIAL, not optional for your health!! Even the healthiest diets will fall short in certain areas, so I take a handful of key supplements:
• Magnesium for muscle function, sleep quality, energy, nervous system support and cellular maintenance and repair.
• Omega-3s (EPA & DHA), for cardiovascular, brain, and joint health.
• A high-quality multivitamin, to cover micronutrients which are absent.
• Probiotics, to support gut health and digestion.
• Turmeric for the huge list of benefits and also to treat 30 years of shoulder tendonitis, from martial arts training and injury!
• B complex, for energy, cell and body system maintenance.
Those are the basics!
* Ashwagandha if I need a caffeine-like lift (and for the extra blood flow to the brain)! It has many other uses including hormone balancing!

My supplementation is about filling in the gaps while aiming for optimal health. Additionally, this delivers slower aging.

People who combine a nutrient-rich, whole-food diet with targeted supplementation enjoy better quality of life, better energy, mental clarity, and acquire resilience against age-related decline. So, all my close friends and family have their own versions of the above, after some of my advice. Their health has improved, vastly! My aim is for everyone to have these benefits and better future prospects because the choices we make now set the stage for how our body, brain, and joints perform decades from now.

Future-proofing your health is a wise move and isn’t complicated. Eat wisely, supplement wisely (with professional advice tailored to you). Treat your body like the priceless investment that it is and don't ignore those issues or hide them with pills. Get them 'cured' as they're telling you there's an issue (which usually leads to others)! Listen to your body! Ask a physician for advice, not pills! Your future self will appreciate this, as will your children and family!!

AI is getting integrated into many things and I have noticed that people are using ChatGPT, as some did/do with Google, to diagnose themselves! ChatGPT is not a doctor or a specialist and gets things wrong, as the article attached also tells us. So you won't necessarily be getting the best advice!

I have asked it medicinal questions, and it's been quite good in its replies, but it hasn't ALWAYS given the right answers!! I had to mention the information I know about, it apologised and said I'm right and that it would give me another response based on this additional correct information!

Bottom line, only if you're an expert in the subject then you'll know what's wrong or missing. It's kinda like asking someone their opinion. That opinion isn't always going to be 100% correct, unless they are an expert. G.P's are also not specialists, they are 'General' Practitioners. So they usually just give people a drug instead of a health based, realistic, long term solution.

When it comes to your health, medicines or any medical questions, you NEED the best, 100% correct answer. Every time!

If you ask most G.Ps what the best solution for indigestion is, or heart burn etc, the WRONG answer is Omeprazole/Lansaprazole or any of those *prazole drugs! There is an association between long term use of that family of drugs and the onset of dementia and Alzheimer's, malabsorption of iron (tea and coffee also block iron) vitamin and mineral absorption, increased inflammation and they also lower your immune system. Great!

Someone I know was waking, needing a wee, a few times at night. They were exhausted by this. Their doctor prescribed them, and they were taking, Amitriptyline!! It's an antipsychotic drug which can cause drowsiness but also dry mouth, weight gain, dizziness, constipation, blurred vision, rare heart/mood issues and causes issues if stopped too quickly!! Not a good idea for anybody, especially anyone over 50. They were drinking water before bed and tea late evening (tea is a diuretic, makes you p*e). They stopped those things and the issue stopped. Simple!

I'm not telling you to not trust your doctor, there are some good doctors out there, but your best advice will usually come from a specialist or a G.P who is up-to-date with his medical reading (and who cares too)!

I hope this helps you, or helps you help someone you know, make better decisions for your immediate and future health.

As always guys, DM me and I'll answer anything.

Myth Buster, Collagen products, which is best?

This one is a hot tip for Anti ageing for the WHOLE body!

Collagen supplements and products are everywhere but not all are worth the money or as effective as other options.

Here's a short guide for those who care about having permanently better skin, joints, and overall health.

Marine Collagen?
Comes from fish skin or scales.
Rich in Type I collagen, but we're not made from fish collagen! Peptides are small and highly absorbable. Good for skin, hair, and nails.

Bovine Collagen:
Comes from cow bones, hides, or tendons. Contains Type I and III collagen, matching human connective tissue more closely.
Supports joints, bones, and whole-body connective tissue.

Bone Broth (bone/soup broth).
A natural, nutrient-rich source of multiple collagen types (I, II, III) plus minerals. Contains Type I and III collagen, matching human connective tissue more closely. Supports skin, joints, and gut health in one whole-food package and aids the digestive system, helps towards weight loss and weight management and contains minerals for the whole body.

Takeaway:
Want younger-looking skin?
Marine collagen can be good.

Want skin, joint, bone, and connective tissue support?
Bone broth is your best bet.
*Combine with vitamin C and you're optimising collagen synthesis. A link for a recommended product is below.

Even a small daily serving of collagen, whether marine or bovine, can help you maintain energy, resilience, and long-term health, while supporting your professional performance.

You can order bones or just bone broth from companies like Able & Cole or Riverford.

Message me for the bone broth making recipe! No space for it here!

*Bonus feature (like on the old DVD's)!
Take one gram of Vitamin C daily (L ascorbic Acid, which you MUST be taking daily by now, and not a tablet with additives in it) dissolve it in water and add fresh squeezed lemon juice. This improves your digestive and immune systems, increases college production and lowers system wide acidity and inflammation in one swift move. Lemon juice changes to alkaline once we drink it! One action, many huge and long lasting benefits!

Coffee! The bottom line!

If you have hormonal issues, stress or are interested in securing your youth and future health, you need to be aware of everything you consume, and every drug...even caffeine.

I like coffee, but I rarely drink it. Just now and then, like eating a doughnut! A treat. Or I have one when I've travelled without the chance to sleep and need to get though the next morning/day...but I will always have some ashwagandha. It's amazing stuff!

Caffeine doesn't actually wake you up, it just masks the tired signals your body is sending you. So, if you're groggy in the morning then you're probably not getting enough sleep! That means you're missing something CRUCIAL in your health regime, sleep is almost more important than everything else. Sufficient sleep allows sufficient recovery, mental and physical, making you feel stronger, supports your immune system, makes you more resilient, in a better mood, more awake, and more energized. Coffee is replicating just some of that. Replicating though!

Yes there are some benefits to having a coffee during the day, and if you're training, but I wouldn't say its a good idea for absolutely everybody. Especially not for people who have high levels of stress, or hormonal issues.

While I'm on the subject, caffeine from Green Tea has a fuller range of support in terms of the benefits that you look for in coffee, without the drop off which can make you feel tired and feel like you need another coffee. There are also more health benefits in Green Tea, longevity wise too.

So why don't you try a little experiment? Firstly, the question is, are you getting enough sleep? If not, you really need to try to do something about that, for your shirt and long-term health. Then see how much you really need that coffee in the morning, or maybe you will still have one just to enjoy the flavor. Maybe even a decaf.

If you can get through your day without any form of stimulant or drug then your long-term future prospects are going to be vastly improved, and you'll most likely sleep better!! Win win!

A coffee a day won't kill you though!

I've taken many people off of these PPI drugs who just needed to stop doing the things that triggered the issue (often just for a little while to let the body rebalance itself. Then, start eating better, more greens and fresh real foods and less fried and fake foods. 9/10 problem solved!! They also cause other health disruptions such as nutrient deficiencies (B12, magnesium, calcium, iron, bone health issues (osteoporosis, fractures), kidney problems, rebound acid hypersecretion issues and there are links to dementia and cardiovascular issues!

It's one of the most commonly prescribed medications in the UK

Myth Busting:
18-Hour Fasting – Is It Bad for Women?
Here’s the truth…

Firstly fasting can mean different things to different people. This article is only talking about the most common and easiest method for the health benefits - skipping breakfast and fasting for 18 hours. I'll give you a 'tip' about this too.

Is this bad for women in general? No, but there are some situations where it's not advised.

5 Reasons Why Some Women Should Avoid 18-Hour Fasting

1. Pregnancy or breastfeeding – you need consistent energy and nutrients.
2. Trying to conceive or fertility concerns – fasting can disrupt reproductive hormones.
3. Low T3 thyroid levels – prolonged fasting can worsen thyroid function.
4. Underweight or history of eating disorders – risk of malnutrition and hormonal disruption.
5. PCOS with irregular cycles – fasting can sometimes worsen symptoms if not managed carefully.

10 Benefits of Fasting for Women

1. Improved insulin sensitivity – better blood sugar control.
2. Fat loss support – when paired with proper nutrition.
3. Autophagy activation – cellular repair and longevity benefits.
4. Reduced inflammation – supports overall health.
5. Improved mental clarity – many report better focus when fasted.
6. Better digestion – gives your gut a rest and more time to heal.
7. Balanced hunger hormones – like leptin and ghrelin.
8. Longevity benefits are linked to fasting in studies.
9. Convenience – fewer meals, simpler planning.
10. Supports metabolic flexibility – easier fat and carb utilization

Tip, it's much easier if you have a healthy dinner as early as possible (low on carbs) with protein and healthy fats, get to bed at a decent (early) time (limiting chance of snacking). Drink water if hungry, have hot drinks minus milk and sugar and have a busy productive morning. If dinner was at 6pm you'll reach 18 hours before lunch time!!

It's always a good idea to check with a health adviser if you have any queries before fasting.

By the way, be careful: ChatGPT and Google are not health advisors, the information is NOT always correct or appropriate!!
