Today is , we've been working with children, young people, and famillies about diabetes related stigma.
💬 Young people have spoken up about tackling stigma around diabetes.
They said there are different types of diabetes, and schools should be better trained to support children and young people in managing it. Key staff need training, and PSHE lessons should raise awareness so everyone knows how to help.
Together, we can start breaking down stigma and create schools where everyone feels supported. 💙

Emergency departments can be intense places — they’re often busy, loud, and brightly lit. For children and young people, especially those struggling with their mental health, this kind of environment can feel overwhelming. It might even make some leave before getting the help they need.

But there are ways to make things better. Hospitals can take steps to create calmer, safer spaces that help everyone — children, young people, other patients, and staff — feel more supported.

If you’re curious to learn more about how emergency departments can improve their spaces for children and young people, check out the “Facing the Future” standards. We’ve got loads of helpful info!

October is Black History Month, and we’re celebrating by spotlighting three inspiring Black British icons:

💛 Dame Elizabeth Anionwu – A nurse and educator who helped launch the UK’s first sickle cell centre, along with lecturing at the Institute of Child Health. She’s a champion for health equality and was made a Dame in 2017.

❤️ Marcus Rashford – Football star and activist. He helped feed millions of young people during lockdown and pushed the government to support 1.3 million children with free school meals. He received an MBE in 2020.

💚 Stormzy – Music legend and changemaker. He’s donated millions to fight racial inequality, funded scholarships at Cambridge, launched a publishing house, and teamed up with Adidas to support Black youth in football. He’s earned honorary degrees for his impact.
