Do you find yourself getting sick when you on restful break ???? Acording to ChatGPT I am having a lesuire/vacation sickness )

It’s often called “leisure sickness.” Here’s what’s going on in plain terms:

What’s happening in your body
• Stress keeps you propped up. When you’re busy or under pressure, your body pumps out stress hormones (like cortisol). They can temporarily suppress symptoms and keep inflammation quiet.
• You finally rest → the guard drops. When the stress eases, those hormones fall, and your immune system rebounds. Any virus you were fighting quietly suddenly shows itself.
• You notice it more. During work mode you ignore small symptoms; on a break, you’re more tuned in to how you feel.

Common triggers during a break
• Sleep changes (sleeping way more or way less)
• Routine shifts (meal times, caffeine, exercise)
• Travel (new germs, dehydration)
• Delayed recovery from weeks of pushing yourself

Typical symptoms
• Colds or flu-like feelings
• Headaches or migraines
• Fatigue, body aches, sore throat

How to reduce the odds
• Ease into rest instead of slamming the brakes
• Keep sleep and meals steady (even on vacation)
• Hydrate well, especially if traveling
• Don’t stack exhaustion before a break—rest a little before you stop.

Does rushing to meet work deadlines before a break leave you more prone to coming down with an illness? Claudia Hammond finds out.

Is it true that … wearing heels changes the shape of your feet?

Yes, says from my ex boss Dr Andrew Goldberg, a consultant orthopaedic foot and ankle specialist at the Wellington hospital in London
