Hippocrates is considered the father of medicine and his laws are known by all medics. But what is lesser known fact is that Hippocrates emphasised the importance of self-healing. - ‘Let food be your medicine’ - ‘ the natural healing force within each one of us is the greatest force in getting well’ Hippocrates was an advocate of natural medicine, observing the influence of seasons, seasonal food and herbs as medicine to act as a balm without interfering with the innate intelligence of the body mind, which is designed to preserve its survival. Unfortunately medicine pays very little attention to lifestyle interventions and more on prescription medicine. Recently, a new wave of non-clinical practitioners are being introduced into healthcare, with a focus on person-centred care. This includes co-creating healthy lifestyles by considering all the facets of a persons life ( social, economical, education etc)
There is a place for prescribed medication but there is a greater need for heart centred conversations - getting to the root of what really matters - this creates a shift in consciousness and a catalyst for healing to begin within.

MOON TIME

Observing the moon phases and it’s influence on the body-mind is one of the oldest forms of healing practiced by medicine women across different cultures - it is the language of Mother Nature from the cosmic soup to ensure our vitality is preserved by our connectedness to the invisible forces that hold greater power than any man made prescription

Full moon fasts awaken a deeper embodiment of wisdom, compared to those who choose to escape or mask emotional vulnerabilities that surface at the time of full moons. This often shows up as extreme behaviour patterns, anxieties or cravings that create repetitive addiction cycles.

The February full moon arises in the constellation of ♌️ LEO influencing our subtler body and invites quiet self-inquiry. We experience peace of mind when thoughts dissolve and we can see the condition of our Heart with our inner eye.

Full moon Leo influences matters of the Heart, our pranic body ( lungs) and the spine. What emotions are we still holding onto ? Trace along the spine and notice where the inflexibility sits- sacrum? Cervical? Or lumbar? 90% of health deterioration is related to our emotional state that impacts our mind.

Master this and abide in Bliss.

‘ Everything is connected ‘

According to the classical yoga texts - Taittiriya Upanishad- the sum total of our beingness or personality is composed of five sheaths - each made of increasingly finer grades of energy.

Only the densest is made of matter which we experience as the physical body, the other four are energy states invisible to the physical eye, though we can easily sense their presence inside us when we pay close attention.

Quantum physics also recognizes that human subtle anatomy has five energetic layers / sheaths or envelopes:
Physical, Vital, Mental, Supramental, and Bliss.

The physical body is built from food - Those who care for this body are nourished by the universe itself.

“Inside this is another body made of life energy. It fills the physical body and takes its shape. Those who treat this vital force as divine, experience excellent health and longevity because this energy is the source of physical life.

“Within the vital force is yet another body, this one made of thought energy. It fills the two denser bodies and has the same shape. Those who understand and control the mental body are no longer afflicted by fear.

“Deeper still lies another body comprised of intellect. It permeates the three denser bodies and assumes the same form. Those who establish their awareness here free themselves from unhealthy thoughts and actions, and develop the self-control awakening deeper truths of self realisation

“Hidden inside it is yet a subtler body, composed of pure joy. It pervades the other bodies and shares the same shape. It is experienced as happiness, delight, and bliss.”

Whilst most spend most of the time serving the physical and thought body, it is equally important to nourish the subtler energetic sheaths since they all contribute to our overall well-being.

Whilst medicine focuses on the physical and mental health, Naturopathic, ayurvedic and holistic practices also consider all five.

Autumn detox : September 21/22

Hi lovelies!
If you’re feeling a little ‘bleh’ lately : upset digestion, skin or joint inflammation , or memories have risen to the surface that create some discomfort / anxiety … it may be that you are responding to the subtle shift in energy as summer exchanges hands with autumn .

Energetically in nature everything radiates , it’s lady smile before retreating . Things lose their lustre , everything drys up .

Similarly In the human frame we experience the same energetic pressure , dryness and congestion across routes of elimination ( urinary tract, intestines , bowels, lungs and skin)

Now is the time to Prepare yourself for an autumn detox - follow my three day plan 20,21,22 September … but make sure you put the prep work in this week !

🍃 Reduce stimulants - coffee cupcakes , comfort food
🍃 replace with seasonal fruit ( grapes , apples 🍎, berries )
🍃 include veggies daily
🍃 introduce kichari ( lentil and grain broth - recipe on my YouTube Chanel
🍃 take time to rest and restore
🍃 meditate create a sacred space in which you can observe your thought patterns without reacting to them

A detox is not just about eating a cleaner diet , it’s simplifying everything around you which influences your mind emotions and spiritual well-being

Observe silence - to deprecate the noise from what really serves your Soulfulness. Then invite goodness into your life.

We are all made of the same stuff : stardust , and our aim is to radiate from within.

Papaya and Lime
A bitter sweet combination that serves the digestive system ( anti-inflammatory) and the Heart.

Easy to make and enjoy at any time of the day.
Add to smoothies or enjoy as a salad.

As we approach the end of summer, the earths harvest is rich in fruits. Although papaya is a tropical fruit it’s ideal to include in the diet at this time of year to help energetically cool the body and prepare it for the seasonal transition.

Papaya seeds - often bitter- are excellent for purging parasites from the gut. Papaya skin is often used as an ingredient to make a hair or face mask - leaving the skin soft and radiant.
