It's blog o'clock, grab a ☕️ and have a read of my latest musings.

It'll help the algorithms think I'm more popular than I am and rank my website better 🙂

It's also a great piece of practical advice 🎺

We’re all aware of the idea of “good posture.” It usually conjures images of soldiers at attention, being “pulled up straight,” or bracing ourselves against a relentless force dragging us down. The common narrative frames posture as an anti-gravity system, a constant, wearying battle we mu...

Why improved posture and stress management go hand in hand.

We’ve all heard the commands to “Sit up straight!”, “Pull your shoulders back!”, “Don’t slouch!” In our quest for “good posture,” we often turn ourselves into rigid, held, and frankly uncomfortable statues. You brace yourself, clenching muscles in a well-intentioned but exhaustin...

The Advantages of Online Lessons

If you’d told me 10 years ago that I’d be guiding someone’s discovery of ease and poise through a screen, I might have been sceptical. The Alexander Technique, after all, is so deeply about the whole self in space, and traditionally taught with hands-on guidance. How could that translate acros...

𝗜 𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝗮𝗶𝗻

You’ve tried the stretches. You’ve seen the specialists. You own every heating pad, ergonomic cushion, and miracle cream on the market.

You manage the pain, but it never really leaves. It’s a constant, unwelcome companion in your own body. That ache in your shoulder, that tightness in your back, that persistent headache—it’s exhausting. You’re not just managing pain; you’re managing the effort of holding yourself together.

What if the solution isn’t about adding another treatment, but about unlearning the tension that causes it?

I've been there, chronic upper back pack and a repetitive strain injury in my right wrist from long hours of computer use.

𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂.

Chronic pain often isn’t just about an old injury or a medical condition. It’s frequently compounded by the unconscious habits we build to protect ourselves: the way we stiffen when we move, the way we brace at a desk, the way we hold our breath in anticipation of discomfort. We think we’re supporting ourselves, but we’re creating a lifetime of excess tension.

The Alexander Technique doesn’t treat the pain itself. It treats the 𝗵𝗼𝘄.

○ 𝗛𝗼𝘄 you respond to the pain.
○ 𝗛𝗼𝘄 you sit.
○ 𝗛𝗼𝘄 you stand.
○ 𝗛𝗼𝘄 you move through your world.

It’s a practical, hands-on method where a teacher gently guides you to notice and release these deeply ingrained patterns of tension. You learn to move with less effort, to stop compressing your own spine, to give your body the space it needs to function naturally. You rediscover ease.

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲. 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝘀𝗲.

Forget "standing up straight." This is about finding a dynamic state of balance where your body is supported, not held. Where movement becomes fluid again, not a series of cautious, painful maneuvers.

𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝘁𝗼:

♡ 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗿𝘂𝗽𝘁 the cycle of tension before it turns into pain.
♡ 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗲 with greater freedom and less strain.
♡ 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗱 to life's demands without automatically bracing for hurt.
♡ 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗺 a sense of agency and comfort in your own skin.

Your pain has been talking to you for a long time. It’s time we helped you listen—and finally reply with change.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲. 𝗔 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻.

Why we talk about

There's greater depth to the Alexander Technique than the way it's often marketed. I'm equally guilty of this for practical reasons, you have to meet people where they are. We live in a culture of images. Scrolling through social media, we’re met with curated visions of health, wellness, and the p...

(With the help of Einstein's Theory of General Relativity!)

If you’ve ever been to an Alexander Technique lesson, you’ve likely heard your teacher use the word “support.” Or maybe you've read about it. We often talk about “allowing your head to release forward and up on top of your spine,” or “letting your shoulders widen.” Underpinning all t...
