📜What can we learn from the magic, wisdom and humour of poetry?

In this Ethical Matters talk at Conway Hall, poet and writer Dai George asks how poetry can help us to understand justice, dreams or anger.

From the genius of the Ancient Greeks through to the love poetry and metaphysics of the Renaissance, through to the New York poets of the 20th century, this is the ultimate guide to the greatest writers of the human age. ✒️💭

🏛️🖼️ Unearthing the Archive: Camden’s Communities, 1965–2025 🖼️🏛️

Camden’s history is a story of people. From long established working class neighbourhoods to newer migrant communities from across the world, communities have adapted and organised, often in response to social, economic and political change within the borough.

Across the decades, community centres, youth clubs, festivals, mutual aid groups and grassroots organisations have created spaces where people connect, celebrate and organise together. These moments — big and small — reveal how Camden’s communities have continually adapted to social, economic and political change.

As part of our 60th anniversary celebrations, we’ve curated a digital exhibition exploring six decades of Camden’s story, from architecture and culture to communities, leisure, markets & shopping, and radical histories.

Take a step back in time and explore the people, places and community spirit that have helped make Camden the borough it is today.

🎉 New Digital Exhibition: Unearthing Camden’s Archives 1965–2025 🎉

On 1 April 1965, Holborn, St Pancras and Hampstead came together to form the London Borough of Camden. As we close this milestone year, we’re excited to launch Camden at 60: Unearthing the Archive, 1965–2025, a digital exhibition uncovering six decades of life across the borough.

📸 From post‑war change and groundbreaking architecture to legendary markets, nightlife, activism and everyday moments, the exhibition charts Camden’s evolution through images and stories from the Camden Local Studies Library & Archives.
