These days resting and travelling with my family have been so special. This weekend I took my mum and kids for a get away from Lisbon city to explore the beautiful Costa da Caparica - a surfing spot with white sand, amazing sunset & great local food.

Amid the hustle and bustle of daily life, holidays emerge as a true sanctuary to recharge and refresh the mind.
Even thou with small kids you never rest!
Nothing surpasses the joy of having quality time with family, where the fast-paced rhythm gives way to tranquility ( and good chaos!) and the sharing of special moments.

Strolls by the seaside, spontaneous laughter, table conversations, and meaningful glances – all of this is part of the magic of family vacations. It was a period filled with rest, fun, and genuine connection, so that we can return to our daily activities revitalized and with our hearts warmed by the memories we've created together. Just missing whom is coming soon to join the vibe!

Health Tips: How Much Water Should You Actually Drink? 💧

Staying hydrated is key to maintaining a healthy body and mind. As a pilates instructor, I'm often asked about the ideal water intake for a balanced lifestyle.

Remember, the "8 cups a day" rule might not be one-size-fits-all. Factors like age, activity level, and climate play a role in determining your personal hydration needs. Listen to your body and adjust accordingly! Remember you don’t need to be thirsty to drink water. Get your sips going all day long!

🇬🇧 Do you often feel tired and exhausted?

If so, you might want to try deep breathing. This is a simple but powerful technique that can help you calm your mind, improve your mood and to cope with stress.

Close your eyes and place one hand on your chest and the other on your belly. Slowly inhale through your nose and fill your belly with air. Hold your breath for a few seconds, then slowly exhale through your mouth and empty your belly of air. Repeat this cycle for 5 to 10 minutes, or as long as you feel comfortable.

When you are done, open your eyes and notice how you feel. You should feel more relaxed, refreshed, and energized.

You can practice it anytime and anywhere! Try it today and see the difference it can make in your life! 😊

Nesse caso, você pode querer tentar a respiração profunda. Esta é uma técnica simples, mas poderosa, que pode ajudá-lo a acalmar sua mente, melhorar seu humor e lidar com o estresse.

Let's talk about something important today: post-Pilates pain.

Believe it or not, we need to clarify that it's not normal to experience intense pain after a Pilates session! In other words: you shouldn’t feel pain!

The goal of Pilates is to work with your body, not against it. We don't need intense pain to know that the exercise is working! In fact, Pilates is designed to leave you feeling a sense of well-being, with elongated, strong, and toned muscles, and improved posture.

While it's normal to experience some muscle soreness after physical exercise, it's important to differentiate between muscular soreness and joint pain. Muscular soreness can be a normal response, indicating that you've effectively worked your muscles. However, persistent joint pain is not normal and should not be ignored.

So, if you're experiencing extreme pain after a Pilates class, it's time to reassess your practice. Let's work together to ensure you're performing the exercises correctly, respecting the limits of your body, and adjusting the intensity according to your individual needs.

Together, let's achieve incredible body balance and enjoy all the benefits that Pilates can offer us! Let's strengthen, lengthen, relax, and have fun on this wonderful journey of mind-body connection.

Weight training x Pilates: which exercise practice is really the best? Let's explore and find out!

👉🏻 Weight training is a popular form of exercise that aims to increase muscle strength and build muscle mass. Additionally, weight training can improve bone density, muscle endurance, and body composition.

👉🏻 Pilates, with its holistic approach, emphasizes strengthening deep stabilizing muscles, improving posture, flexibility and body awareness. Also, he works in harmony with breathing, promoting a calmer and more focused mind. It covers the entire body, targeting not only the superficial muscles but also the inner muscles, contributing to proper alignment, muscle balance and injury prevention.

In terms of mental wellbeing, Pilates can go beyond weight training, offering a deeper mind-body connection, stress reduction, improved concentration and an overall state of well-being, unless you train mindfully when lifting your weights and think of the integration of your entire body and connection with your mind.

Are you ready to discover and be inspired by my trajectory? 🍃

My journey to health through movement began as a kid, exploring how my wobbly feet could handle challenges and the frustrations that came with them.

I fell in love with teaching movement when I was just 18. Helping people find health, joy, and freedom through physical activity became my true passion.

When I moved to England 23 years ago after finishing my Sports Science degree in Brazil, I stumbled upon the Pilates Method.

I checked out popular Pilates places in England, but it didn’t seem like the practice Joseph Pilates had created. So, with my backpack and that little money I had, I took off for NY in 2007. Luckily, I found Dragon’s Gym, where they housed the True Pilates Method - Romana’s Pilates.

I vividly remember entering that open space with a gymnastics practice on one side and a massive Pilates studio on the other.

Funny enough, I bumped into a lady from London in the changing room. She gave me the address of the only Romana’s Pilates teacher around at that time, Stephanie Guimond. When I got back to London, I started taking sessions with Stephanie, and after nearly two years of prep, I joined the first batch of Romana’s Pilates teachers in UK.

After a year of intensive training, I got my certification. It’s been 15 years since then, and 14 years since I opened my first studio in London. Let me tell you, it’s so much hard work and effort on so many levels. Many people have been part of this journey, which keeps on going strong.

Today I have two studios, one in Marylebone Central London and another one in my home studio in Brockley where I am developed to my online coaching.

And so, the journey continues, forever learning and dedicated to helping others forge their own path to ultimate health through the transformative power of The Pilates Method.

It took years of development, but my Pilates journey paved the way. Don’t ever stop believing. A year from now, you might wish you had started today. Dreams do come true if you visualize, commit, and put in the work!

Embracing the struggle to get my health on track has been a true challenge, but I know it's worth it.

Balancing a busy schedule, healthy eating, and exercise may seem overwhelming, but I'm determined to overcome all obstacles. When I see the smiles on my children's faces, I know that every step towards a healthy lifestyle is worthwhile.

I want to inspire them to follow the same path and value their well-being. The motivation to take care of our health isn't always easy, but when I think about the example I'm setting for my children, I feel a renewed sense of drive.

I want to teach them that health is a precious asset we should value and preserve. Even in moments when the journey seems tough, I remind myself that I am creating a legacy of health for future generations.

So, let's keep pushing together and show our kids the incredible benefits of living a healthy, energetic life!
