Making decisions doesn’t have to feel heavy.
When the noise settles, clarity doesn’t shout.
It quietly shows you the next step.
Meditation supports decisions made from calm,
not pressure.
That’s why we meditate.

You trust the flow of life.
Not because it’s easy,
but because you know you’ll meet what comes.
Meditation supports that steadiness
through challenge and uncertainty.
That’s why we meditate.

Just finished reading Leonard and Hungry Paul.

What struck me most wasn’t the story itself, but the perspective it offers. The book looks at life through a lens of presence, gentleness, and a lack of judgment.

Paul, in particular, moves through the world without trying to get ahead of it. He isn’t rushing toward what’s next or measuring himself against where he thinks he should be.

There’s a quiet wisdom in that. A sense that when attention is here, in ordinary moments, life doesn’t need to be forced or improved. The future remains unknown, but the present is workable. And when we’re present, things tend to be okay.

The story unfolds through everyday situations. Small interactions. Simple routines. Nothing extraordinary on the surface. Yet that’s where the depth lives. In kindness. In decency. In allowing people to live at their own pace without needing to justify it.

It’s a reminder that meaning isn’t always found in progress or achievement. Sometimes it’s found in noticing what’s already here.

A thoughtful, grounding read.
A beautiful companion for a Saturday.

Our January retreat began a little unexpectedly with a burst water main and reduced water pressure, which meant we lost access to several rooms.

Thankfully the kitchens were unaffected, and despite the disruption, it didn’t deter us from having an incredible weekend together.

There was plenty of meditation, lots of yoga, and deeply insightful conversations. We explored everything from the meaning of life to life after death, including the many different beliefs around whether it exists or not, and why those beliefs matter so deeply.

We created spaces where it felt safe to ask any question. We laughed, we cried, and we held space for one another together.

In many ways, while the water issues created pressure on a practical level, the outcome was something really beautiful. Everyone came together. People were flexible, supportive, and genuinely helpful in making the weekend work.

It’s moments like this that reveal the strength of a community. It was wonderful to witness, and I came away feeling more grateful than ever to be part of such a thoughtful, kind, and resilient group of people.

And now, with this weekend still settling, it feels like the perfect moment to say bring on the April Camino trail and the May retreat. It’s going to be wonderful.

Thank you to everyone who made this weekend what it was.

Transcendental Meditation is taught over four sessions.

Each one builds gently, so the practice feels natural, effortless, and easy to sustain in daily life.

Session 1. Personal Instruction
A one to one session where you learn how to meditate using a personal mantra.
You experience the technique straight away and begin your practice with confidence.

Session 2. The Practicalities
How and when to meditate.
You learn where to sit, how long to meditate, and how TM fits easily into busy modern life.

Session 3. The Mechanics
What happens in the mind and body during meditation.
We explore stress, thinking, and why effortlessness is key to deep rest and clarity.

Session 4. Stabilising the Practice
How to get the most from TM long term.
We cover benefits, common experiences, and how to keep the practice enjoyable and sustainable.

We are in Bath on the weekend of the 24th of January and in central London on the weekend of the 31st of January.

For a one to one introductory talk, please contact me and we can discuss further.

Watch this space over the next few days as we open up courses in Shepherds Bush, Twickenham, Bath, and Bristol.

I’ve been reflecting on the year recently. Not so much on what I achieved, but on how I actually moved through it.

How happy I felt overall. How much genuine joy there was day to day. What my energy was like, whether things felt clear and flowing or heavy and forced.

There were plenty of good moments where things felt easy and aligned, and there were also some genuinely challenging times.

Most challenges don’t really change year to year. There will always be things to deal with. What matters is how we respond to them, and how we treat ourselves while we’re doing that.

As I look towards the year ahead, that’s what I want to carry with me. More clarity, steadier energy, and being kinder to myself (and others around me) when things feel difficult.

If all of those are in place, the achievements will naturally follow.

World Meditation Day is officially recognised on May 21st. Some people also mark December 21st, the winter solstice.

The solstice is the shortest day of the year and a natural point of stillness, reflection, and renewal as the light begins to return.

Both moments work so beautifully because meditation is about pausing, listening, and reconnecting beneath the noise.

Whether guided by the calendar or the rhythm of nature, the invitation is the same. Slow down. Come home to yourself. For me, meditation is never just one day.

Today unfolded through meditation and ecstatic dance, shared with incredible people, presence, movement, and stillness all meeting in the same space. It was simple, grounding, and deeply nourishing.

Thank you to everyone who shared the day.
Your energy, openness, and warmth made it what it was.

A wonderful weekend teaching in Totnes.
I used to question my ability to teach meditation because so many of the teachers I met early on were incredibly serious. For a while I wondered if that meant I wasn’t doing it “right.”

But the more I taught, the more I realised something simple and freeing: the community you attract comes from who you truly are.

When you're genuine, honest, and comfortable in your own style, the right people naturally find you... the people who resonate with your way of teaching, your humour, your approach, your heart.

That’s why authenticity matters.
Not to impress anyone… but to allow the right people to recognise themselves in you.

Reflecting on today's wonderful day where we meditated lots, laughed a plenty and finished off with a curry

A truly satisfying day with an amazing group of people many of whom I have been meditating with for 16 years plus now.

The background as always was incredibly diverse from business owners to artsts, consultants, retired folk, teachers, doctors and social workers. Proving once again Meditation is fir everyone

Also great to have fellow teacher join in the festive fun! Next week we are in Totnes for more of the same. Should be grand!!

The mind is not one thing. It is a whole system at work.

Understanding this system helps us make sense of why we react the way we do.

Manas is the reactive mind. It is the part that jumps at a sharp email or feels pressure when messages pile up. It reacts before we have time to think.

Ahamkara is the ego mind. It takes things personally. A neutral comment becomes a story about us. Feedback becomes a threat to who we think we are.

Chitta holds our past impressions.
Old experiences leave traces.
Samskaras are the charge behind those traces. This is why a small moment can feel heavier than expected. The present touches something stored.

Buddhi is our deeper intelligence.
It is the part that sees clearly. For example, someone sends a blunt message and instead of reacting you pause, breathe, and read it again with calm.

Buddhi reminds you that the person might be busy or stressed. It helps you respond with clarity instead of emotion. It is the shift from immediate reaction to steady awareness.

Beneath all of this is Pure Consciousness.
The natural stillness at the foundation of the mind.

Stillness is not something we create. Stillness is what remains when the mind settles. It does not react. It does not defend. It is not shaped by old patterns.

When we meditate we rest in this deeper layer. The noise softens because we are touching something unaffected by it.

Understanding this system does not make life perfect. It simply helps us move through the day with more awareness, more ease and a steadier sense of ourselves.

We have an afternoon of Meditation and Talks this coming Saturday in Shepherds Bush all are welcome. for more info do drop me a line.
