Did you know popcorn can be dangerous for small children?

Due to it’s size and odd shape it can be difficult for little ones to chew and safely swallow. That makes it a big choking risk. But it also poses a risk of aspiration (where something is breathed into the lungs by accident) which in some cases can lead to pneumonia.

That’s why we recommend you avoid popcorn until your child is at least 5.

We specialise in paediatric first aid, sports first aid, first aid at work, first aid for chiropractors, osteopaths and physios, first aid for dentists, doctors and other health professionals, first aid for carers, first aid for parents and grandparents - including baby and toddler and teenage first aid. First Aid for Life provides fully regulated HSE and Ofqual approved courses through Qualsafe Awards. Paediatric courses fulfil Ofsted criteria for registration on the Childcare Register and EYFS. Scheduled courses are available in Balham, or courses for groups are available nationwide and on any day of the week Certificates are awarded on the day.
