Osteopath Kosta Kolimechkov

Osteopath Kosta Kolimechkov Osteopathic treatment aims to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes. It encourages health There is also a free car park for patients.

Using an osteopathic approach, I encourage healthy movement in joints, muscles and tendons by correcting mechanical imbalances. My work and sport experience has given me an insight into how the human body and mind react to different forms of treatment and exercise. Treatment techniques usually consist of gentle to firm joint manipulation aiming to improve the range of movement in restricted joints. A wide range of non-invasive manual techniques, such as deep tissue massage, joint articulation, trigger point therapy, myofascial release and if appropriate medical acupuncture are widely used to help the treatment goals. Patients are strongly recommended to follow postural advice, stretching, and exercise guidance. Other Information: My practice is based at Cedars Health Club, located at the top of Richmond Hill, in the grounds of Richmond Gate & Richmond Hill Hotel.

🔷💠Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) Summarised💠🔷

🔷What is Myalgic Encephalomyelitis?
Myalgic Encephalomyelitis literally means “muscle pain with inflammation of the brain and spinal cord.” But the reality of ME goes far beyond its name.

ME is a serious, complex NEUROLOGICAL DISEASE that affects an estimated 30 million people globally. It causes widespread dysfunction across multiple systems in the body. It disrupts the nervous, immune, and endocrine systems, impairs cellular energy production and ion transport, and often causes significant cardiovascular abnormalities.

🔷What is the main symptom of ME?
ME has more than 60 symptoms. Post-exertional malaise (PEM) is the hallmark symptom of ME. It refers to the worsening of symptoms following even minor physical, mental or emotional exertion, with symptoms typically worsening 12 to 72 hours after activity and lasting for days, weeks, months or even years.

🔷How sick are people with ME?
The spectrum of ME ranges from mild to very severe, with patients experiencing fluctuations in symptoms and severity over time:

💠Mild: Even mild ME patients are gravely ill. Only 25% of ME patients can work with great difficulty. Mild patients have lost at least 50% of their functionality

💠Moderate: Moderate ME patients are mostly housebound and often require a wheelchair outside of their homes. Daily tasks like bathing and cooking are a struggle

💠Severe: 25% of ME patients are severe or very severe. Severe patients are completely housebound and often bedridden. Most are extremely sensitive to sound, chemicals and light

💠Very severe: Very severe patients are completely bedridden, experience extreme pain, are often tube-fed, and many suffer from periodic paralysis and/or seizures.

🔷TREATING ME WITH THE PERRIN TECHNIQUE™ The treatment manually stimulates the fluid motion around the brain and spinal cord by a combination of specific adapted osteopathic techniques and manual lymphatic drainage developed by Dr. Raymond Perrin which aids drainage of these toxins out of the cerebrospinal fluid.

BREAKING INSIGHTS FROM THE NOBEL CONFERENCE

Dr. Maiken Nedergaard's groundbreaking presentation at the Nobel Conference in Minnesota reveals that massage around the neck and face can boost glymphatic fluid flow, enhancing brain clearance.

These findings strongly support the Perrin Technique, showcasing the benefits of gentle manual work in stimulating lymphatic and glymphatic activity for optimal brain health.

Dr. Perrin will draw on these insights in future talks, highlighting the convergence of current neuroscience and the Perrin technique's principles.

Microplastics have been found in the Olfactory Bulb of the Human Brain

Researchers in Germany and Brazil say that 8 out of 15 autopsied adults had microplastics detected within their brain’s smell centers, the olfactory bulb. The particles were likely breathed in over a lifetime, since tiny floating microplastics are ubiquitous in the air.

The findings underscore the need for further research on the health implications of microplastics exposure, particularly concerning neurotoxicity and the potential for microplastics to bypass the blood-brain barrier.

The researchers emphasized that given the potential neurotoxic effects caused by microplastics in the brain, and the widespread environmental contamination with plastics, their findings should raise concerns in the context of the increasing prevalence of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson’s and ALS.

ME/CFS AWARENESS DAY
International ME/CFS Awareness Day is just around the corner, with many organisations and individuals coming together on May 12th to recognise and support the millions of people world-wide who are affected by ME/CFS and other related neurological conditions.

This significant day coincides with the 55th anniversary since the World Health Organisation (WHO) officially acknowledged ME/CFS in their International Classification of Diseases.

With Long COVID rampant round the world – the number of people being diagnosed with ME/CFS is growing exponentially day-by-day. This is an important day in the calendar and we encourage everyone to learn more about events or activities taking place locally and to help raise awareness of these invisible illnesses.

EXCITING NEW RESEARCH ON CSF DRAINAGE

Within the last couple of weeks a fascinating piece of research has been published providing unprecedented anatomical details of lymphatic vessels draining cerebrospinal fluid along the nasopharynx.

South Korean researchers led by Director Gou Young Koh of the Center for Vascular Research within the Institute for Basic Science (IBS) have uncovered a distinctive network of lymphatic vessels at the back of the nose that plays a critical role in draining CSF from the brain. Full text available open access, see below:

Yoon, JH., Jin, H., Kim, H.J. et al. Nasopharyngeal lymphatic plexus is a hub for cerebrospinal fluid drainage. Nature 625, page 768–777 (2024). https://doi.org/10.1038/s41586-023-06899-4

Dr Perrin shares his thoughts on the above: “It backs up everything that I have been saying for years. Will be discussing more with Dr Mike VanElzakker at Harvard when I visit Boston for my workshop this coming weekend and should have some interesting meetings which will hopefully help us achieve our aims and goals.”

Scientists investigating the causes of lymphoedema have made a major discovery, revealing that lymphatic vessels can produce red and white blood cells. Until now, it was believed that blood cells derived solely from stem cells found in bone marrow. At this year’s conference, Dr Perrin shared his thoughts on this new discovery:

“We’ve seen malformation of red blood cells in both ME and Long Covid - this could be due to the malfunctioning of the lymphatics. If we can help the lymphatics drain better, surely it’s going to help everything work better as well.
It’s the control mechanism of the lymphatics as well that is so important - the sympathetic nervous system - and when we treat the patient, we are helping that. Besides helping the sympathetic nervous system work on the blood flow, it could also help in the formation of blood cells in the lymphatics as well.”
