Last week, the group explored collage as a means of self expression. Create & Care is a free weekly group especially for carers living in Croydon. Each session offers the chance to try out a new art form, relax and connect with other carers.

Will you indulge in this trompe-l'œil ?

Carmen Almeida's '9-day fast' is a playful trick on our senses, highlighting food as a multisensory experience, and how the right shape, texture and colour can make our mouth water just as much as the real thing.

"This piece marks my first experimentation with clay since adolescence. I immersed myself in the challenge of shaping the peaks freehand, appreciating the precision and spontaneity involved. The inspiration for this work emerged unexpectedly during a nine-day fast, when I perceivably saw the clay as a large, tempting piece of chocolate—though I refrained from indulging! This piece embodies a moment of playful perception and rediscovery of tactile creativity. "

Calling all Croydon carers!

Studio Upstairs is running a special creativity and wellbeing group just for called Create & Care.

👉 Free to attend. All art materials will be provided.
👉 Every Wednesday from 11 am to 1 pm
👉 Running from Wednesday 12th November to Wednesday 11th February (with no sessions on 24th and 31st December).

Every session will be different so you do not need to attend every week.
