Parenting can make good people question themselves daily.

You may wonder if you are doing enough, saying the right thing, getting it wrong, or somehow failing.

But if you are showing up, caring deeply, trying again after hard moments, and wanting the best for your child… you are already doing so much more than you realise.

Children do not need perfect parents. They need parents who keep loving, learning and repairing.

You are doing the best you can with what you carry too. Be gentle with yourself.

When exams are near, many parents increase reminders because they care.

“Have you revised?”
“Why are you wasting time?”
“You need to focus now.”

But often, the more pressure a child feels, the harder it becomes to begin.

Stress can look like laziness.
Overwhelm can look like avoidance.

Sometimes the most helpful question is not:

“Why aren’t you doing enough?”

But:

“What feels hard right now?”

Feeling understood often creates more movement than pressure ever will.

Exam season can make many parents feel they should be doing more, saying more, organising more or getting everything right.

But children rarely need perfection from us.

They need adults who can stay steady when things feel wobbly, offer reassurance when confidence dips, and believe in them when they struggle to believe in themselves.

The calm you bring matters more than you realise.

If this season feels heavy in your home right now, you are not alone 🤍

Many teens are being labelled lazy right now, when they may actually be overwhelmed.

Stress does not always look like worry. Sometimes it looks like procrastination, irritability, shutting down or seeming not to care.

For many young people, pressure can feel so big that they freeze.

This can be frustrating for parents who are trying to help.

Often what helps most is not more pressure, but calm support, understanding and manageable steps.

If exam season feels hard in your home right now, you are not alone.

Feel free to message me if support would help 🤍

Hello, I thought I’d reintroduce myself as it’s been a little while 👋

I’m Priya, founder of Amlani Coaching.

I support children, teens, parents and families who may be struggling with anxiety, emotional overwhelm, behaviour challenges, confidence, motivation, exam stress or family tension.

My approach is warm, practical and compassionate. I don’t believe anyone is “the problem” — often there is something underneath the behaviour that needs understanding and support.

With over 20 years of professional experience, I bring together coaching, family understanding and child development to help create calmer homes, stronger relationships and more confident young people.

I work with families locally in Harrow, Pinner, Northwood and surrounding areas, as well as online.

If home has been feeling harder lately, or you’re worried about your child or teen, feel free to message me for a friendly chat 🤍

🧠 Children regulate through their bodies and relationships long before they regulate through words.

Consistency, predictability, co-regulation, and sensory input aren’t indulgences — they’re biological needs. ✨

First phone tips 📱👇

1. Ask about what apps, games or websites they use to help you learn what they enjoy and what worries them. You can use these chats to set boundaries.

2. Explore privacy settings on apps and games with your child. You could look at screen time limits, content filters and set up parental controls.

3. Explain they should never feel pressured, scared or uncomfortable online. They can say no to things and adults are there to help.

4. Let them know they can always talk to you and they won’t be in trouble.

5. Make online safety part of everyday conversations as they grow to help keep them safe.

🌱 Just like these two plants, every child is unique.

Both were given the same soil, the same water, the same sunlight. Yet one has thrived while the other has withered. Why? Because “fair” doesn’t mean giving everyone the same. It means giving each what they need.

Children grow best when we see their individual strengths, challenges, and rhythms—whether in education, sports, or everyday life. Some need extra support, some need space to stretch, some need a different kind of encouragement altogether.

🌸 Fairness isn’t sameness.
🌸 Thriving looks different for everyone.
🌸 When we nurture each child as they are, they flourish.

👉 How do you see your children’s unique needs show up in their growth?
