The comprehensive medical benefits of dancing are well documented. It can improve heart, lung and brain health. It can also lift mood, improve balance, increase flexibility, and strengthen muscles and bones, which can reduce osteoporosis risks. It reduces stress, and may significantly lower the risk of dementia too.
As osteopaths, we definitely can’t teach you to dance, but we can help get you to move better so you can enjoy it pain free. Our reliable approach to optimising your musculoskeletal function is what you need. Soft tissue massage, joint mobilisation are some strategies. Why not give us a go!
This superfit Indian dancer in Thanjavur kept her routine going for 10 mins and was pretty breathless at the end. Try something simpler to start with 😉

We’re thrilled to announce the safe arrival of baby Matteo born 31st January. Noemi and her son are doing well and getting to know one another whilst sharing some sleepless nights.
As A.A.Milne wrote “Sometimes the littlest things take up the most room in your heart”.
Noemi will be back in the autumn, as many of you have asked, but for now we all wish her and her newly enlarged family, all the very best 😍

Balance exercises aim to train the brain to better understand body position, enhancing spatial awareness.
They are great ways to strengthen knees, ankles, and hips, making them more resilient. They also strengthen core muscles which help align the spine and can help reduce neck, back and joint pain.
Studies also show that it can benefit cognitive behaviour and reduce risk of falling in seniors. For sporty folk, it can improve agility and reaction time.
Give them a go! Either slow step ups or heel-toe walking, single leg stances or calf raises. All are worth a shot.

Whilst in India, I’ve noticed that even the slightest person can lift heavy weights and be upright.
Remind your own bodies that we were made to do this and should not lose the ability as we age.
This doesn’t mean we have to go to the gym or be a competitive athlete, though you can, but more that we embrace the physical aspect of daily life.

Walking is super for your general health and musculoskeletal system.
Did you know that hiking poles improve stability and balance by providing extra points of contact, reduce strain on joints like knees and hips, and enhance endurance by engaging the upper body. They are beneficial for all terrains, especially for navigating steep ascents and descents, crossing obstacles, and reducing fatigue and muscle soreness. Give them a go! Always two never one.
Look where it can get you 😉🤩
